Local residents in Nong Prue sub-district, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi, have raised the alarm over alleged wastewater discharge into the Mabprachan Reservoir, a key water source for the surrounding community.

Concerns were reported, following observations near a popular exercise area along the reservoir’s edge, directly opposite a well-known restaurant close to the Horseshoe Point junction on Phonpraphanimit Road.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that while surface drainage pipes appeared to function normally, an oily, greasy residue was found accumulating at the pipe’s outlet. The sheen on the water, coupled with a strong odour, led many to believe that wastewater was being illicitly discharged into the public reservoir.

Residents expressed concerns that, if left unchecked, the contamination could have serious repercussions on water quality, public health and the broader environment.

“We urgently need the authorities to step in and investigate the source of this pollution,” one local resident stated. “If this continues, it could harm not only the ecosystem but also the safety of everyone relying on this water.”

Locals are now urging the relevant government agencies to conduct a full inspection of the drainage system and identify the parties responsible for the suspected discharge. They are calling for swift remedial action to prevent further pollution and to safeguard the environment and public health in the area.

The Mabprachan Reservoir remains a vital resource for the region, and its protection has become an urgent priority for concerned citizens.

Another great news item about Pattaya.

I await the time when the authorities in Pattaya will address its multitude of problems; but then again, we all know who controls Pattaya.

Agree, I'm waiting for 2 objectives to be completed:

1- All wires underground and in proper underground containers.

2- New much better methods of laying footpaths so that they do't fall apart in 5 minutes, and water from rain is better managed.

And of course theres' more...

Unfortunately, 'all wires underground' is actually going in reverse in Pattaya.  There is a massive project now going on installing new, very large and tall concrete poles to replace the smaller, shorter ones.  You can now see some of them on Sukhumvit and they are going up everywhere in the Lake Mabprachan area of the Darkside, where I live, including the street I live off of.  At least the shorter, smaller poles blended in a bit but not these new, huge monstrocities.   Pity all the money being spent on new poles to replace old poles wasn't used to start burying the wires.
