Visa run

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I came to Thailand in the end of January, with no visa. Just got the 60 day stamp which I extended, and then did a visa run to Cambodia in the end of April. Now have to get a new stamp again but I'm unsure if I should do it alone or with the help of an agent. Cambodian border is closed and Vientiane seems to be difficult these days.

Is Ranong a good point of entry to do the visa run for someone who already has several stamps in the passport?

Interesting - never heard of it. Is it a zoo, like Nong Khai has become, or civilised? And is it 7 days a week?

Additionally, you can fly to Hat Yai and take a minivan to the Wang Prachan border in Satun, which is located on the border with Malaysia. The journey takes around three to four hours.

When you arrive, before you stamp out, there are a couple of windows to the side of the Stamp Out building. Go to the end one and explain that you want to return the same day. Give her your passport, fee of 2000 baht, and TDAC details, and she will provide you with a ticket number to present on the Malaysian side.

You'll then walk over to the Malaysian side, give them your ticket, and they will stamp you in and out. Then you return to Thailand to get your stamp back in.

Done this six times now, including this week, and I have had no problems at all.

It's very busy until about 2 PM. I try to be there after 4 PM, and it’s much easier. The border is open every day and closes at 6 PM.

An option would be fly to Udon Thani and do a border run.

Agent can assist or take couple night stay in Vientiane

Not wanting to hijack the thread but:

I assume these various bounce options generally mean a 60-day exemption with option for another 30 via an IO and B1900?

Question is, does an IO ever cause trouble over the 30-day extension - as they often seem to do at airports on issuing the innitial 60-days?

Or is the 30-days always automatic?

It has to be a mistake. Can't be 50000 or can it really??

If it's 50.000MMK, that would be 800 baht. Could it be?

They asked for 50.000 baht 100% sure

50k baht for what help?

It is pointless quoting a figure without referencing what the 'service' relates to.

Not off topic question at all.

The 30 day extension will be issued by local immigration office.

The bottom line is that you have been living in Thailand for 6 months with the 'inappropriate visa/permission to stay'.......at any point an IO can say "no more visa exempts/extensions".

I understand that has happened to a few people based around southern Isaan.

Thanks.

Ridiculously high...................even for a full year extension of stay.

Just not possible now.

This was thai visa center.I did a extension witg them during the covid lockdown. They picked up my passport at my hotel..i paid 5500 baht and after a week they returned my passport with new stamps.

ThaiVisaCentre will pick up your passport and attend immigration for a 30 day extension to tourist visa or visa exempt entry.

For 60 day you can exit Thailand and reenter visa exempt.

The only 60 day extension is for reason "to visit Thai wife"

That's what my friend did because his wife is thai.Anyway he told me they offered 60 days for the price i mentioned. If he lie i lie.

You are confused.

A 60 day extension to visit wife is relatively simple.

50k would be for a Non O + 12 month extension based on retirement.

In any event  nothing to do with OP thread.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. We know a lot of IOs make a song and dance (or worse) at airports for those seeking a 60-day visa exemption. I wondered if local IOs ever make problems with requests for a 30-day extension of that exemption.

My friend got a really negative experience while extending a visa exemption at the immigration in Hua Hin, the Bluport one. The IO asked him why he comes to Thailand so often, etc etc. The usual stuff that usually happens at the airports.

And then he was given 30 day extension. Right

Also off topic post removed

Yeah he got it. I have never heard of anyone getting denied an extension, unless they didnt have all the required paperwork. He went to the other immigration office after that though.

Name the agent. I bet it wasn't one of the main Pattaya ones.
