Thai government doesn't care. It gets revenue from air flights and hotel taxes. Indians can also load up on products that are low quality in India so VAT.

obviously like bodywash, soap, shampoo, razors, scissors ,aftershave and perfume

Several airlines, such as Thai Lion Air and British Airways, are set to participate in the subsidy programme, which offers 500 baht per passenger to attract 500,000 more tourists.

Now that's nice .If all the Airlines give the Travelers a subsidy of 100  or up to 300  then  that would cover the the 300 that the government want's to charge every toerist.    Just Thinking.

Better get used to it Thailand, India is close and is the next China.

All the working girls are going to have to gain 100 pounds to make themselves attractive to them..

What's the ratio between entry and exit numbers??

Do I detect sarcasm? The Indians appear to all pitch in a few Baht and then about 20 of them bang the girls like a barn door in the wind. Horses for courses I guess. The Chinese tourists band together and pitch in their cash and about 20 of them share a plate of fried rice or similar, either way, a lot of people are getting "sloppy seconds"

I don’t think Chinese share plates of rice. Too much stereotype from centuries ago in that. In fact, a frequent display of wealth for Chinese is to order too much food and leave most of it uneaten.

They DO travel in large groups on tour buses and do group tour activities. Quite a few like to rent villas and buy a ton of stuff in 7-11 while shouting to their friends on the other side of the store.

I know we all laugh about zero baht tours and the like, but we scoff at the wealth of Chinese in general, at our peril. There are a lot of very rich Chinese and they all like their food.

Mishap??? I’d have stronger words for this tragic flight.

Seriously? Why would that be a consideration of any tat official

Besides, they have every right to have their holiday here as you do as per for the Thai government.

I rarely see them in my area of Bangkok and when we holiday outside of Bangkok they are rarely if ever to be seen at all. Perhaps if it bothers you so much change up where you live and operate?

You've obviously not been to Pattaya lately. Feels like Calcutta in certain areas now. A plague of locusts would be more welcome.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) targets a record 2.4 million Indian arrivals this year."

How many words do TAT have for "guess"?

Many do. The Indian destination weddings bounced back in Phuket.

For a basic 3-night wedding with 50 guests, including ceremony and reception, costs could range from $6,000 to $13,600 USD, averaging around $8,900 USD, according to Phuket Romance

A wedding at a  4* resort will be between 2.5 to 3 million THB for 100 guests 3nights. This website breaks down the costs.

https://www.diwas.in/cost-of-destination-wedding-in-phuket/

The single male and  cheapskates go to Pattaya, but the  Indian middle class with the families  go to Phuket, and Ko Samui. It's a different demographic.

Different yes but I wonder how do they get along with the 80 thousand Russians that live & holiday in Phuket , Pattaya is gone practically India town now even the Russians are moving out in big numbers and heading  down to Phuket which  you could call little Moscow now

Despite a recent Air India aircraft mishap, Indian tourists continue to flock to Thailand, defying global short-haul market trends. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) targets a record 2.4 million Indian arrivals this year.

In response to market dynamics, a new 750-million-baht flight stimulus programme is on the horizon. Patsee Permvongsenee, TAT's executive director for regions including South Asia, emphasised India's enduring love for Thailand. The convenience of a short 4-5 hour flight and visa-free access remains a significant draw.

As of mid-July, 1.26 million Indians had visited Thailand, making them the third largest group of visitors after Malaysia and China. This influx includes young millennials, wedding parties, and business travellers.

To further encourage Indian tourists, the Thai government offers a 150-million-baht incentive subsidy, enhancing similar schemes managed by TAT's offices in New Delhi and Mumbai.

Siriges-a-nong Trirattanasongpol, from TAT's New Delhi office, acknowledged the Air India crash last month affected sentiment. However, many Indians are still keen to visit Thailand even during the off-peak season.

While a joint promotion with Air India is on hold, TAT is partnering with other airlines. The Indian government is also allowing more foreign flight slots, supporting increased travel.

Adding to the excitement is the upcoming launch of Noida International Airport, poised to provide new flight opportunities. Thai Airways sees potential in India to compensate for a slump in Chinese tourists. Many Indians use the airline for connections to other Southeast Asian destinations.

Thai Airways serves eight Indian cities, including 22 weekly flights to Delhi and 11 to Mumbai, and is exploring flights to Noida International Airport. The new airport's proximity to the Taj Mahal could appeal to travellers.

Several airlines, such as Thai Lion Air and British Airways, are set to participate in the subsidy programme, which offers 500 baht per passenger to attract 500,000 more tourists.

This strategic push highlights Thailand's commitment to maintaining robust tourism figures, drawing on its appeal and ensuring a vibrant future for the industry.

Straw makers working flat out. Soap companies going bankrupt.

For every X Indian tourists who spend very little money you lose a western tourist who does. Quantity is not quality. (not saying there aren't quality Indian tourists - there are - but these are not the ones coming)

It is terrible. They literally flood second road walking all over the place in large groups disrupting traffic. Thankfully they mostly stick to their own nightclubs in Pattaya... so far. In Bangkok they started letting them in Nana Plaza and nightclubs - terrible mistake which is already backfiring. (Not talking about one or two people: the other night half of B******** was Indian guys and couples. Bumping into people, knocking **** up, and just being annoying. Will not go back anytime soon.)

In Phuket, Indians are far more likely to be short stay visitors, while Russians are long stay, so they  have different accommodation needs. One needs  apartment or houses, while the other needs  Indian friendly hotels. The Russians are found in their enclaves like Rawai and keep to themselves. The Indians stay in their preferred areas. They don't interact much. There shouldn't bee too much animosity since India is one of Russia's largest trading partners.

Do you have any  data to back that up? I get your point and I do avoid locations with high numbers of Indians, but the Indians are spending. The just have different spending patterns than westerners. They may not spend on alcohol, but they spend on appliance and electronics purchases.

Any bargirl will speek Indian people stinks.

Absolutely awful.

They are turning away quality tourists.

The sex pests in Pattaya are dangerous to women there, even those who aren't in the nightlife scene.

They also say "I love old man" "Thai man no goot" and "up to you" when you ask about her remuneration.

Apparently,  the TAT is handing out 'Welocme Indian' kits that include a package of straws, a trowel with which to dig cat holes and instructions on how to bury their waste after depositing it onto the beach.  The kit originally contained hand sanitizer but the unopened bottles were found discarded outside the airport.

Numbers of tourists are figures that matter only to Airlines.
what Thai businesses want is tourists spending.
does TAT produce any type of spreadsheets showing income by demographic?

I used to holiday in Cabo Verde, and most of the Europeans were in 5 star all inclusive  hotels.

Apart from employment they did nothing for the  local traders. Just because you are affluent doesn’t mean you want to spend it

Not if their only experience with Indians is with people like the ones in the very misleading photo.

A more accurate depiction would be roving packs of swart, loud men who roam the streets like stray cattle, obstructing roadways and blocking sidewalks, not to mention sleeping and defecating on the beach. That's enough to get any sane person going.

TAT is just looking at numbers entry. Not the actual spend by tourist, and to see if it is having a negative on other tourists.

Indians tourists are hard work for other people to have to holiday with. It is having a negative effect on other tourists.

TAT do not control the immigration policy of course. The governments visa free programme to most of the world has been a disgrace and caused issues.
