I have just read  a long list of crimes and misdemeanors which somehow contradicts the  'Reduced Crime and Boosted Tourism Confidence'...... in the headline.

This forward-thinking initiative, spearheaded by Commander Lt. Gen. Yingyot Thepjamnong, integrates cutting-edge technology to transform Pattaya into a secure and welcoming destination.

I though robo-cop was at the cutting edge ?

what are the statistics for last year from April to June? As Jacko45k said There have been a long list of assaults, pickpocketing personal theft reported recently, better reporting or bad statistic reporting?

I'm guessing there is no direct correlation between the supposed drop in crime and this initiative. How can this system stop an assault from happening just because it recognised someone's face? Did it read the facial expressions and send out a policeman in time for a assault to be thwarted?

Are there signs up everywhere advertising that people could be caught?

My only guess is that it scans and identifies recidivist offenders and they get moved on. Or a control centre can communicate via public speakers to frighten potential attackers away. Can't see any other benefit this system would have.

I reckon the AI is trained to look at the front of people's trousers and guess they're about to launch into some sex tourism. Somehow...

Yeah... they compare rates from high season and low season to promote this deterrent actually works so they can justify the money spent on it. I can not wait for some hacker to break into its system. Probably has password like immigration did before 12345. AS i read the news also it seems more crimes reported than what is claimed here also..

Thailand goes fully Orwellian. Absolute control, absolute surveillance, abolishing of any privacy and later likely there will be the end of any freedom. Digital ID, digital wallets, drones and AI. When will the people wake up and see what's really happening.

None of the '5 measures' involves actual policing, actual cops walking a beat, which is what is needed. As for the 'rapid response' component, my answer is it took over 30 minutes for the police to arrive to a serious incident the other day--in an area known for incidents. Maybe add a 6th measure to the 'Pattaya Model'--have police at hot spots all the time--both to deter crime and also be on the spot when it happens for actual 'rapid response'.

Too many people/groups need to be involved...will never work.

Just what is "big" data...and how does this system become pre-emptive... 555

Just more fancy headline grabbing gobbledegook.
