Suggestions For Purchasing A New Laptop.

Featured Replies

Hi there,  My 8 yo ASUS 13" laptop totally s**t itself yesterday. My trusted repair guy told me that as it was a costly procedure to fix it. I would be better off buying a new laptop. Now I'm looking for a replacement. He also suggested trying Lazada, so has anyone purchased a laptop from Lazada, if so what was the brand name and cost. I've been told that many of their laptops are 2nd hand. So I'm in two minds because I might buy a lemon. Thanks.

I would buy from a physical shop in case sth goes wrong or you need technical help configuring it.

  • Buy from the official store  JIB, BananaIT  Lenovo etc  they don't sell second hand.

I have. From a store Chichang (from Chiang Mai - awesome seller), and from Banana IT (which also has many physical shops around Thailand). If you are buying a general laptop, that should be good enough, but if you want something classy and less available, you may need to deal with Advance or JIB.

From what I know all have online stores as well as presence in Lazada and Shopee. Personally, I prefer Lazada in case anything goes wrong.

Firstly thanks for the speedy replies. I've bought a lot of things from Lazada over the years without any problems. Lazada can be deceiving as when it's in English the items description are in Thai. So how do I know if the product is second hand/ used or not?

Sorry, never bought a laptop on Lazada.

I did buy counterfeit supplements, though.

Some people say LazMall is legit on Lazada.

But I don't know enough about Lazada. Someone else will.

I'm assuming you want a Windows PC not this Apple rubbish, being a discerning user of Asus.

Personally I would get the dual screen Asus Rog Zephyrus Duo 16, which can now be had at discounted prices.

Alternatively the Lenovo Yoga with dual screen.

However, those are probably overkill for you, if you had a 13 inch Asus.

A Lenovo ThinkPad would be sensible choice that could be up your street.

Asus Zenbook is also good.

Lazmall products on Lazada.

LazMall is a curated section of Lazada, offering customers a shopping experience focused on authenticity and quality. It features leading international and local brands, top-rated online brands, and authorized brand distributors. LazMall guarantees 100% authenticity of products and provides a 30-day easy returns policy.

Used to have the 15".....but it was a lump and we still travel around quite a bit.

I'm used to things being on the small side.

Check out invade IT, they don't sell crap

They do, bought an HP laptop from them 5 years ago, lasted 2

JIB and Advice seem to be the most reliable fist party sellers in Thailand.

If you're going to be traveling internationally Dell has the best support network.

Maybe you should blame HP, or take better care of things

You might consider buying a Chromebook off of Amazon. If Trump gets Thailand to lower its tariffs, the cost will go down in August.

Chromebooks are basically just browsers with a keyboard, but if you aren't running local apps it is fine. Lightweight, and long battery life.

+1 for InvadeIT, I just bought a new laptop from them, due to arrive tomorrow

+1 for BananaIT too

Beware of Lazada, their sellers are not to be trusted, they are full of copy's. Buy one from one of the main stores in your nearest shopping centre, then you can always go back if there are any problems.

AFAIK, anything in a foreign language can be translated by right-clicking anywhere on the page and clicking translate.  Second hand will be listed as such, and/or don't buy if there are no reviews, or no previous buyers.

Have had one since 2020, also has local phone support for the first year which was great.Bought direct from Apple.

Lenovo online or jib. Banana can be a bit annoying.

Depends on budget and what you want.
