It seems that that the Covid pandemic scared people stupid

Reading into this article, it seems that that the Covid pandemic scared people stupid.  Given that "brain shrinkage" and "brain aging" occurred in people who never got Covid-19 or a SARS-Cov-2 infection, the article implies that the causation of this phenomenon was the pandemic itself, or more likely imho, the literal fear that it produced in the majority of masses who were susceptible to the propaganda of fear and fear-porn that was force on them by media, governments, social media, and "health institutions." My guess is the minority of us who didn't buy into the endless pandemic fear-mongering and who risks censure on social media by pushing back on the narrative that a a virus with a case fatality rate not much different then the annual flu was going to wipe out humanity like the Plague, which of course the weakest minds out there were actually comparing Covid-19 to.

:shock1: "Mask up, social distance, and get every shot your told to get or we'll all die - Covid IS the plague."

I'm not sure if people got stupider or if the "Covid Pandemic" simply showed those of us who never fell for the "plague" narrative just how stupid and gullible most of humans are. Given my last two trips to hospitals, my views that The Stupid just got stupider were simply reinforced.  I went to a major private hospital in Chiang Mai last week and I'd estimate that 90% of the people were masked.  Then I found out why - the doctors in this clinic were still promoting Fear_Of_Evil_PathogensTM - and <gasp> CovidTM.  I was required to wear a mask to speak with a doctor who verbally chided me like a petulant child and informed me  that, "Hospitals are full of virus and pathogens that can make you sick and if you don't wear a mask you may get - Covid!!!" :shock1: "EEEEkkkkk!"
 I laughed, but put the mask on to humor her, and then was instructed to sit a safe 3 meters away for the doctor.  I joking brought up the fact that she is probably weakening her immune system by "attempting" to shield herself from "pathogens" instead of challenging her immune system like our species has been doing for a few tens of thousands of years, which is why our immune systems are a marvel of nature.  She wasn't having any of it.
When I got home I cancelled my future appointment with her.  I can't abide my so-called doctors who are 1) irrationally Mysophobic, 2) discount their own immune systems, 3) obviously have suffered "brain shrinkage" and "brain aging" during the "Covid Pandemic."   Btw - I had been to two different clinics in the same hospital and there perhaps 50% of the patients chose to wear masks and the staff and doctors were not forcing the patients they were seeing to mask up, so the continued Fear Of Covid was a product of the staff doctors in that one particular clinic.
Yesterday I went to a different hospital - not one of those fancy boutique private hospitals like I had visited the previous day, the staff were not forcing people to mask or social distance, and maybe 35% of predominately Thai patients were masked.  The irrational fear of "Killer Covid" is slowly subsiding among some members of the population.  My guess is that their "brain shrinkage" is reversing.  <laughs>

"Brain aging appears to have accelerated by several months during the COVID-19 pandemic, even in people who did not get sick from the virus, according to a new study.

The study, published in the journal Nature Communications on July 22, found that in 2021 and 2022, brain scans from a large UK database showed signs of aging, including brain shrinkage, even in individuals who were never infected.  Although people who had a COVID-19 infection showed some declines in overall cognitive performance, the authors said that structural brain changes were seen across a larger population."

Brain shrinkage more likely an effect of COVID vaccination.

Maybe by design.

Just like your general health, brain 'health' depends on what you feed it.  The results are made obvious here on AN.

There is no doubt IMO that there has been a general decline in mental capacity of people who got Covid and the Vaccines. Caused by one of them - or both - do not know - and I dont think we ever will.

Cognition and Memory after Covid-19 in a Large Community Sample | New England Journal of Medicine

In this observational study, our primary hypothesis was that there would be measurable cognitive deficits after Covid-19 that would scale with covariates of illness duration and severity. We secondarily speculated that objective impairments in executive and memory functions would be observable in persons with prolonged symptoms, especially poor memory or brain fog.

Funny - all your comments are 1 liners - with the occasional 2 liner. There is no display of cognitive 'sharpness' on display.  Do you mean 'sharp' as in throw a quick comment at a post?? Try writing some coherent thoughts or rants or advice over a few paragraphs - then I will believe you are cognitively sharper than ever. Not saying you are not - but if you were always a hammer, then that aint sharp Bro.

Sharp as it needs to be.

Nothing to discuss with you.....you have a myopic view - which differs to mine.

Nowhere to go with that.

Caving in to the media staring at the television will shrink anyone’s brain, go with the flow as the same effect.

That a hospital is a very dangerous place is no news, given all the sick people arriving for treatment, and then imposing a mask, proven to be absolutely useless against viruses because it fails to filter them, is rather idiotic.

So with all the stupidities that were applied during the COVID period, it's clear that the stupid became intelligent and the intelligent became stupid. The result was that the final stupidity was the most successful in proportion to the population.

You call that 'sharp' - try again mate.

Your 'insults' remind me of an Australian PM who was responding to a 5 minute personal attack by a Member of the Opposition. "MR Speaker, I must say after listening to all that, I feel rather good. It was like being slapped with warm lettuce'.  The whole assembly laughed - opposition members struggled not to do so.

Me thinks your attempts at insult are likewise 'weak' and maybe Covid caused?

Think back now at the silliness you had to go through to enter a chain store (Makro) to shop for food.   Thermal sensor & masks, that did absolutely nothing.

Worse - the cops stopping cars on the border of Chiang Mai on highway 11 which didn't have Chiang Mai license plates - and of course - give "dirty farangs" the evil eye and a nasal swab and forced Covid testing should you be from a different province than Chiang Mai. Those forced nasal swabs at gun-point were just an abomination.  There's the ultimate in power projection - violate a person's body in the name of stopping the flu.  I'm still p*ssed. Although I live in Lamphun, we have CM plates.  What absolute stupidity.  Never took a test, never had a the shot.  Got Covid and it was a mild flu at worse.

However, one thing about being a farang, when I refused to sign their check-in books at places like Makro and Big C, I never got challenged.  The only time I got challenged was going to the salad bar at Sizzler.  Literally forced to mask up.  Haven't eaten at Sizzler since, no plans to ever eat there again.

 "Believe everything we tell you and don't question 'the experts' or else."  Gawd, I spit in disgust every time I hear the word "expert." Still to this day.  A whole bunch of people sold out their values to promote questionable shots using questionable technology (mRNA) because it was a power-play to kick humanity in the teeth, exert power over the dirty masses, attempt to usher in an age of totalitarian control, and make hundreds of billions of dollars from shots that, imho, are neither "Safe" or "Effective." And oh - force everyone to take them, preferably at the end of a gun. They almost accomplished that - almost. Power-freaks came out of the woodwork. It's amazing how many people in this world want the power to tell you want to do, and to want to shut you up if you dissent or question "The Only Narrative You're Allowed To BelieveTM".  They almost got away with that too.  But enough people woke up from their stupors and began to push back - thankfully.  We came really close to falling into an Orwellian dystopia.  Too close.
