A tipsy foreign couple have become the talk of Thai social media after being filmed in a rather animated embrace on the back seat of a public baht bus in Pattaya, sparking both amusement and some alarm online.

The video, first posted by the Facebook page Saih Khao Pattaya, captures the pair, a man and a woman, appearing to be intoxicated as they travel through South Pattaya. With the woman perched on the man’s lap and the vehicle visibly swaying, the footage left many viewers questioning whether they were witnessing more than just a playful cuddle.

The incident unfolded at around 20:00 on the 2 August, just before the vehicle reached the bustling Walking Street area. Curious passers-by and online users were quick to criticise what they perceived as inappropriate public behaviour.

A local reporter tracked down the very baht bus featured in the footage. The 38-year-old driver confirmed the story, recounting how he had picked up the couple near Pattaya Second Road, heading towards the beachfront.

“As we hit traffic near Walking Street, the back of the truck started rocking. I looked in the mirror and saw them bouncing around on the seat,” he said. “At first I thought, what are they doing?”

However, upon closer inspection, the driver concluded the pair were simply drunk and horsing around.

“I turned around and saw them moving in a way that made my eyes pop,” he admitted. “But when I realised they were just fooling about, I couldn’t help but laugh.”

Despite the humorous turn, the driver did issue a gentle warning to the couple, who insisted they were “just playing” and meant no harm. He later dropped them safely at their hotel on Pratumnak Hill.

“In all my years driving a songthaew, I’ve never seen anything like it,” he added. “It gave me a bit of a shock at first, but it’s a story I’ll be telling for a long time.”

Local authorities have not taken further action, but the episode has served as a light-hearted reminder for tourists to keep public conduct in mind, even after a few drinks.

They were obviously in the mood to be home early.

I see a business model: love mobile. Excursions to quieter places than beach rd.

The perfect family destination.

I just have to wonder if people go to places like Amalfi or Santorini and are this brazen.  I was in Ibiza in 2003 and I saw couples engaging in acts but for fuxsake they were at least trying to be discreet to a certain degree

Obviously they were just cuddling it's illegal for ladies not to have panty on in Thailand
