Some of the members maybe, the forum seems OK.

Shame.

Used to be so useful.

Ask an interesting question maybe

Some of those who used to provide really good info are no longer on the forum, and it feels today that it is dominated by jokers and people who wish to argue over politics. For those who like joking around and arguing over politics, it's great. But for learning about navigating life in Thailand, I don't think this forum offers anything like the same quality of info that it used to. And that's a shame because the owners have done a good job with the server and the forum itself is faster than ever.

Most here have seen less than 30% of Thailand. Arguing over Trump is their fav topic.

The original site Thai Visa Forum was much more informative and less hate/ argument based.

AN could actually start a new site for Trump haters and foreign political obsessers.  Otherwise, it remains a shell of how good it use to be.

How much "info" do you realistically need once you've gotten your visa sorted out?

What info do you want? Even the jokers might be able to help you out with "info".

Place used to be called ThaiVisa? I wasn't around, but must have been boring as hell talking about visas 24/7.

HateTrumpforum.com would do well. Ads for decaf lattes and marshmellows.

ThaiVisa was actually worse, even with all the strict moderation. That's where you got the really nasty comments on every thread. People were getting constantly banned and just re-surfacing under different names. I rather enjoyed it...

Am I missing something? Last time I checked there were separate dedicated sections covering all manner of subjects  if you want to know visas go to the visa section, if its politics then there is a section for that etc etc.  The content discussed is down to the members / op's  if there is not a thread about a subject you are interested in then you can start one yourself, if others are interested they will contribute

I don't see the problem

There’s weak minded toxic folks who are easily offended in every community, and yes it is rather entertaining at times.

Why not all the disillusioned MAGA Morons are moving there, would be a huge benefit to AN.

Been around since the start (watcher before joining) and there’s actually less invective. TV at its height could be really bitchy and the mods/admin initially let members get away with all sorts.

The hate thing now is the way of the world—look at Twitter (X 🙄) etc… the various wars, Trump nonsense and Covid mess has made it all the more shiitty to be around, where people seem to have less time for one another. Nostalgia probably also plays a part.

As for the op, it’s certainly not dead. While many of the old members have moved on to the great gig in the sky (Dr Patpong, Blinky Bill, Joe etc) or just left, it is more organised than ever and still puts out solid info on Thailand, visas, health.

I agree entirely, even when someone makes a serious post asking for info the smart alecks move in fast. There are some people here who have good advice or good suggestions to offer, but they seem vastly outnumbered by the clowns and scolders.

The trouble is, they're not posting anything strictly against forum rules, they're just arguments looking for a place to exist.

The savages have taken over!

I finished reading this thread and moved onto the next one.  Funnily enough I thought it is very helpful, see below.  Of course, there are some anti-Trump posts, but those are easy to ignore.

You started in the Samui forum.

That is indeed a "bit quiet".

Forum is a total mess, flooded with hate and conspiracy stuff.

Seems all Thailand topics answered. And if there is, it is a lot of fear mongering or false rumor.

But 'dead' only in regard to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao??

You were faster.

Dead is not the the right word for AN in total. A full blown civil war shooting from the keyboard.

A lot truly needs to be asked if one needs info.  I see daily that people do provide some visa info be it re yearly extensions of stay, or whatever but many times there just is not enough info provided for the particular need.

I think this forum is alive and well. I think there are quite a few intelligent and  articulate members on this forum who have quite a bit to say, and bring quite a bit to the table.

Having said that there are about 10 specific members who are rabid conservatives, will do absolutely everything in their power to defend falsehoods, lies, distortions, and Trump, and they do make the forum quite annoying at times.

But as they say water off a duck's back, they're easy enough to ignore, and sometimes quite easy to have a good laugh at.

There's a time and place for everything and giving mocking advice to people seriously asking is not acceptable but I do enjoy all the smart ass comments people come up with.
