Ah so not Korean but Chinese, makes more sense, maybe change the title

No wonder it took a while to talk him out. They were speaking the wrong language!

No disrespect intended to the OP. The story obviously evolved over time.

Gotta love the guy with a bandana and sunglasses…. At night

I was being sarcastic.    If I post my opinion, I offend some here, I get hostile comments and at times I get reported.

I am a foreigner living in this country long time. I am the only white man in the village & will be (maybe) the 1st white man to be b-b-q'd at the local temple.

I do not hide in 7/11 stores.

I am (maybe) not wrong or wierd.

Having said that.....yes I am crazzzzy🙃🙃

My wife keeps asking me Are You Crazy, I just smile and nod

Yeah, it's a Chinese dictat from Mr Xi. Don't use the Chinese description wherever possible, just say foreigner. Good it came out this time.

UPDATE
Armed Standoff at Pattaya Convenience Store as Chinese National Surrenders After Two-Hour Siege

A dramatic late-night police operation in Pattaya ended with the arrest of a 35-year-old Chinese national who allegedly entered a convenience store brandishing a handgun, sparking panic among locals and tourists. Police have now confirmed that the man was Chinese and not Korean as first reported.

The incident occurred at a store near the entrance of Soi Thepprasit 8. Police said they were alerted to the situation shortly after midnight and quickly mobilised a large team, including plainclothes officers and members of Pattaya’s tourist police.

Upon arrival, officers found the store surrounded by market vendors and bystanders. Police immediately cleared the area, evacuating people from the danger zone before sealing off the front and rear exits. For more than two hours, officers attempted to negotiate with the armed man.

A Chinese interpreter was eventually brought in, persuading the suspect, later identified as Mr Zhang Shuai,  to surrender peacefully. He emerged from the back of the store with his hands raised before being taken into custody. Police recovered a modified Glock 19 replica capable of firing .380 calibre rounds.

Store employees told officers that Zhang had rushed inside claiming he was being pursued by another Chinese national. Witnesses said another man did follow him into the shop briefly before leaving, after which Zhang appeared to be hiding at the rear of the premises. Staff noticed he was armed, prompting them to flee and call police.

Zhang was taken to Pattaya police station for questioning as officers investigate his claims and determine whether the incident was linked to a personal dispute or other criminal activity.

'Upon arrival, officers found the store surrounded by market vendors and bystanders.'

===========

Are they a lot faster to siege the crime scene than police tactical squad?

'Police recovered a modified Glock 19 replica capable of firing .380 calibre rounds.'

??????????

Replica usually means a dummy; looks realistic, but fake.

But capable of firing live rounds?

Or it was the Chinese clone of the  western gun?

The original headline was based on the information available at the time and reflected what was reported by multiple outlets from the scene.

The article was posted within an hour after the incident and as with any emergency there is a degree of confusion, but was based on best available information, at that time.

As with any developing story, more information becomes available and updates are posted to reflect the changes.

I'm surprised it took so long to figure this out.

Armed Koreans are found on the roofs of convenience stores!

Note:  This would be an unsafe and hazardous location according to US Secret Service standards.  No agents could be assigned to this sloping roof.

A good joke.

But their collective action at the time of LA Riot in 1992 was proper.

Also widely praised both by police and CA National Guard.

Maybe he escaped a call center and they were chasing him ?

Same same. I don't have any guns either. My wife has some exceptionally large knives though.

Ah. My wifeys twin.🙃🙃

Someone was shouting to him in Korean in the video but he didn't respond because he is Chinese and couldn't understand what was being said to him.  Brilliant policing.

I long for the drama of yesteryear.

They were making no progress trying to entice him out with a plateful of pickled garlic cloves, but then switched to a tureen of fried shrimp!

One of the officers was speaking Korean to the  suspect while he was barricaded?
