Regardless of your view about the US government etc, barring the Vice-President of the most powerful country in the world is about as dumb as it goes!  Somehow I don't think the UK will be on his Christmas card list, and with the power that the USA wields in the world, the future for USA-UK relationships is probably going south....

The USA was the most powerful country in the World, they lost this status and can't accept it.

The USA is the most powerful country in the world, has been for a long time and still is.

Have you evidence to the contrary?

Democracy lol. You don't even have a constitution.

Essentially because the country has been too stable for too long.

It is the most powerful country militarily, unfortunately at present it is losing a lot of goodwill and soft power it has built up since WW2. More and more countries are seeking alliances without the US.

America First will become America Alone (with Russia and Israel).

Economically it's ahead but China and the EU aren't far behind.

The US has the world's largest nominal GDP and a highly advanced, diversified economy.

China has the second-largest nominal GDP and the largest GDP when measured by purchasing power parity (PPP), according to the European Commission.

The EU is a major economic power, with a combined GDP that rivals the US and China.

A Trump lover. How nice! Keep spitting against the wind.

Not fascism, true. But definitely immature and spoiled.

I would be mortified, not proud, if a restaurant in my home country refused to serve a political figure merely based on the personal biases of the staff. I would hope they would be fired.

You can´t fire people for doing the right thing.

Any evidence of that? The article mentioned 20 Secret Service agents swarming around during the VP Harris visit.

The reality is that the staff were just throwing a hissy fit. Nothing more.

But it worked, right? That´s the important part.

I'm sure JD was really upset and it ruined his entire day!:cheesy:

No just stating facts, are up to speed with what is happening in the UK currently?

Don’t know about JD but it certainly gave me a chuckle and it’s delightful to see the world calling out these clowns for what they are.

Vance ?  I've never met the man.

And obviously know little about him too.  But don't let that stop you from your tiny fisted tantrums.

Yeah. Clowns. Marine veteran, successful writer, survivor of childhood trauma, Yale law school grad.  Your jealousy is showing.

Well, pubs are closing at an astonishing rate, something like 400 per year. So for this one in particular to snub a profitable payday is not very business savvy.

Not only the staff, the residents wanted him out to.

Well, that makes ALL the difference  s/.

Let's keep those goalposts moving, people.

Pretty classless move.

Oh, I don't know. Think of all the publicity this has generated for the pub.

And the folks in a certain village in Greenland.

Poor old JD, but it's his own fault for mouthing it off, interfering in other countries' affairs.

Yeah, I do think so. Can´t be nice to think you are important, come to a foreign country and people just oust you. Usually hits right in the ego of characters like this mad dude.

The British don't like hypocrites. Telling Europe it needs to allow more free speech while places like Florida try to ban books (Google it).

I doubt whether the bar staff are as ignorant as JD.

Florida is banning books? Do tell...

I am sure the bar staff are very charming and eriudite, no doubt more than a match for a best selling author and graduate of Yale Law School.

Perhaps this thread will launch a new meme: "VDS"!

Opertunist pure and simple selling our democracy down the toilet in the quest for power,it’s more horror at the squandered gifts he’s obviously been blessed with than jealousy that goes double for trump….two very very corrupt guys so yea when they get called on it I do tend to chuckle 🤭

Probably all migrants that never went to school.

Back on topic, I have no problem with the pub refusing service to anyone, for any reason. Let them virtue signal all they want.

Yet, I wonder...

Would the media be so smug if the polarity were reversed. Say, another VP, also in a bicultural marriage, was refused service... would the reaction be as positive?

The staff were not refusing to serve Vance on the basis of who he is married to.

Glad it gave you a chuckle, but one pub in the Cotswolds is hardly 'the world'??🙄

What makes you think migrants would know or care who Vance is?

Why do you care?

It's not as if anyone in the world cares what happens in Australia.
