On the other hand, I have encountered many doctors here who have gone out of their way to be helpful.

Every country has "good" and "bad" doctors.

I suspect farangs aren't their favourite customers. They question them more than the locals. The locals are obedient and don't query anything, which they much prefer.

Shock horror, you had to show a naked arm in the waiting room for your blood pressure test.

You no doubt show more than that each time you go for a swim

Many years ago I was regularly visiting Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok. I would walk for almost 30 minutes to get there in 35C heat, and puffing away on a cigarette. When they took my blood pressure it was often on the high side of good.

Sounds like the two of you have really hit it off.

Over many years here I have been treated at hospitals in Rayong, Pattaya, Sri Racha and Bangkok.  Twice I was an in-patient for 5 or 6 days at one of those hospitals.  Never have I experienced anything other than highly professional and quality service.  I even have the privilege of having my current personal doctor's private phone and email address.  I love my doctor, hospital and outstanding service I have always experienced at every hospital I have been to.

There isn't even any privacy taking my blood pressure in the waiting room of all places !

Explain to me why you need a private space to take your blood pressure?

I have never seen such a thing in any hospital or clinic where they give you a private room to do this. Are you complaining just for the OPS sake?

i have met a few receptionists with what seemed to be racism against foreigners. You find them occasionally in every field. What you should have done was see the doctor and complain to him about her attitude so she will either get a new perspective on how to do her job, or get fired.

Mate, you've missed the boat, 20 years ago we were all treated like Kings, these days they are fed up with us.

You want NON Rude receptionist, you got to get out of Pattaya, far away.

Too many moaning, nasty, miserable foreigners in Pattaya, it's no longer Thailand, just whinging, whining lousy foreigners.

BHP takes your blood pressure in the waiting room.

It's not a problem for most of us.

While sitting waiting in a hospital waiting room, I have seen nurses giving injections to patients, I don't see any problem with this.

I know personally of three

One I will not go back to !

I certainly will not be saying or identified the medical centre I'm talking about in the Jomtien area

but I remember my last visit which still sends shivers up my spine when I had to deal with a young women who was the receptionists asking me questions and shaking her head at the answers !

I decided rather than be belittling I left

She also seems to talk to others like that too

Oh please I said to her ...not this little black duck and then I stormed out

There isn't even any privacy taking my blood pressure in the waiting room of all places !

I have had a vicious gay Thai Dr tell me that I was invading the Thai hospital system and turned nasty, I left and saw another Dr, I have been a patient at the hospital for 17 years, I have supported my family and paid their medical expenses costing me thousands of Bhat, I have never been treated so badly, thank bhudda I will never see this a hell again

Another sad sign that "...the party is over..." (written by someone first visiting in 1969)

Maybe he thinks the nurse is gonna put the blood pressure around his knackers and check the blood pressure there.

How does one go about getting a personal doctor here?  Has always seemed to me you just show up at hospitals for everything and see specialists etc.  But difficult to build a relationship/history with anyone.

The question that needs to be asked is 'how many rude foreigners have we've seen at a medical centre/clinic'? 🤔

It's because of these many rude, disrespectful, nasty foreigners, we must all suffer.

I have always been treated with respect this was out of the blue and shocked my Thai wife, if i retaliated I would have been kicked out of the hospital this dr was nothing but an angry person who probably lost his boyfriend that morning

I took a family member to hospital who had aids

I contacted the aids foundation first, they said treatment was free for Thai people, when family and I talked to the dr he demanded thousands of bhat for medicine, I said Thailand provides free medicine for Thai residents, it's Thai law he kicked us out we drove to Petcharat and the dr said sorry they are corrupt and put our friend into hospital which he charged us 2000 bhat for a week and then gave free medicine for him ,never had to pay again
