I swear by Motorola Power G7.  I have had one for four years now.  Not a single issue.  Big long lasting battery.  Takes all the android apps I have used from the play store.

Same here. Hope it lasts forever

Can you even buy a Motorola in Thailand?  When mine (from the USA) went tits up, I couldn't even find a shop in Bangkok that could replace the battery.  I did like the Motorola for the price.  It was through Google Fi, and dirt cheap.

Samsung is on the decline, maybe because quality has gone down, perhaps caused my moving production to other countries. My AC binned, phone binned, I loathe my Samsung TV, looking forward to it dying

We'll have to agree to disagree. As I said, I've purchased many Samsung monitors and every one has always come with a handheld remote.

I'd be more than interested to hear some model numbers of these Samsung computer monitors that came with a remote that you've purchased in the past.

Sorry, my way-back machine is broken.

This from Grok:  ""Yes, Samsung monitors, particularly Smart Monitors and some gaming monitors, come with handheld remotes to control functions like apps, settings, and media playback.

Yes I bought one from Lazada 2 years ago but there were limited models available.

I recommend going to a Samsung store so you can actually try the phone and feel it in your hands before buying it.  Samsung makes very fine phones and I've been happy with them for many years now.  Also, they will set it up for you, install the latest software, do the configuration and transfer all your data, apps contacts, messages, etc. from your old phone.

As they will at any other phone make dealer.

How different do phones feel ,in your hands of course, from any other phone. Its a lump of plastic and aluminium FFS. To try it, will you get the salesperson to call you. 555

I would have thought that this Green Line problem would have totally put you off the Sumsang stuff.

I wonder if I wanted a Sammy Washing Machine they would let me take a bag full of dirty undies in order to try it out, to see that it cleaned properly.

Why would you need a remote for a PC monitor. Don't you do everything via the PC?

Apple is overpriced GARBAGE that is totally locked down.

Agree 100% on that.

Apple is good to flaunt around...

I have a good phone. No one has ever asked me what make it is, or looked at the specs or desktop. Only look at the photo you show them, and then quite a few times, take it from me and start scrolling though my gallery. What is F OFF in Thai.

I also hate my 75" Samsung TV. For example, you have to reconnect every time you change sources, the remote control is crap, Direct TV including French channels is only in English,  it's impossible to play DTS audio files, etc.

I also wish it were broken so I could replace it.

Nothing to do with phones, you might say... Yeah, but if the same engineers design the product, we can fear the worst.

I have a Samsung 43 inch dumb TV I bought second hand in Pattaya over 10 years ago. Still a perfect picture, via my Firestick, the remote is fine.

55 inch is 6 years old, no problems with TV or remote. Agree the remote is not the most intuitive, but, hey, I am a fast learner, or if I cannot do something, my 5 year old grandson shows me.

No idea.  I am not sure many stores in the USA even carry it physically, I can not think of there being a motorola store as apple has. I bought mine from amazon while here in the USA

The nice thing about Samsung TVs is that once you set your universal remote to work with one, it usually works with all of them in my experience.  At least that is what I have noticed with my Firestick remote when I am travelling around to different hotels and AirBnBs.

Exactly.

That being said, it does appear that certain high-end Samsung monitor lines do come with remote controls. However this is the exception rather than the rule. So if @HappyExpat57 's last couple of monitors were both from such lines, I suppose it's understandable that he believed it to be the norm.

I have multiple machines connected to multiple monitors. I have to select which HDMI input to use.

I could understand that if you had multiple machines connected to just one monitor.

I am interested in a few Motorola offerings on Amazon (US). But I'm gun-shy after reading a couple reports here from guys who bought phones from overseas sellers (not aliexpress, because their items get through fine) and had all kinds of issues. Same thing with some laptops as well may have occured, too.

The phones, the models, were not available on the market here, and so lacked a necessary 'certification' from the telecommunucations ministry, I believe it was.

Being held up in customs, and becoming a huge headache, to either get them shipped back or somehow get the situation resolved. (A big payment was one option, perhaps? But not interested in that.)

I assume he means "I have multiple monitors, each of which has multiple machines attached".

So more PCs than monitors. 555

More devices than monitors, yes.

As he's using the monitors as TV substitutes then it's not unusual to have more devices than screens. That's why displays often have multiple inputs in the first place.

OK, I considered all the logical alternatives, and I have firmly decided that the A56 is the near perfect choice for me and even the lower end configuration would be more than enough for my use needs.

So I was at the stage of cleaning up my old phone for the transition and deciding on where to buy my new A56.

Then today doubt was introduced.

A phone call where it was impossible to communicate.

With things like Grab delivery you just text chat and get automatic translations.

I had been curious about the phone conversation AI instant translation feature on the Samsung series.

While it's not an everyday need, when you need it, you need it.

But does it really work? I'm skeptical.

Any experience reports with that?

There is plenty of positive reviews out there

I was brand-loyal for many years too. I have an S21. It has the green lines (since about 2 days after warranty finished, incidentally) and they just keep spreading. "Customer service" in BKK just actually laughed when I showed them, and agreed there isn't a replacement screen this side of Finland but it would cost B7000 if there were.

Worth looking into this. Samsung Thailand has caved as a result of a class action lawsuit and is now offering free screen replacement for 11 affected models. Registration period is short and runs until September 21st.

Just seen this - many thanks for posting. Now, for the real Gold Star, all you need to do is tell me how to take advantage of the offer without the proof-of-purchase I binned on returning from the oh-so-unhelpful service centre a few days after the warranty had run out! (Who in hell keeps receipts for more than 2 years?)

If they let me, I would replace the screen - it was absolutely superb until it went wonky.

NB a factory reset does nothing for the screen lines. That screen is history.

As someone above said, time to move on. Samsung product and service have both turned to brown stuff.

Plus, Android 14, whch I was stuck with after the reset, is CRAP. Screwed half of my apps, moved my settings around and is generally a heap of poo.

My next phone will be used (from a relatively trusted local source), android 13 latest and almost inevitably Chinese. But I will NEVER go Samsung agan.

My Samsung Galaxy S21 is still going strong (battery replaced once). Don't like the shape of the subsequent Ultra models though. Hope S26 is good though as it is about time for me to change too.

OK apparently the S25FE has been released in Thailand so I will be considering that over the A56 because it is improved over the S24FE and has those AI features that I do want.

GSM Arena is a very good site to find reviews and compare like for like with other phones in the same price range
