Thailand Enforces Stricter Controls on Medical Cannabis Use

Featured Replies

Cannabis is now under tighter control in Thailand, with the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine announcing new restrictions. The use of cannabis is permitted strictly for five medical conditions: insomnia, chronic pain, migraines, Parkinson’s disease, and anorexia—only with a doctor’s prescription.

Just like they controlled the licensing to operate a motor vehicle?

Tourism: Minus 20%

“Thai officials hope to demonstrate leadership in managing medical cannabis responsibly”.

In Thailand? You’re kidding me.

I wish they'd introduce controls on cheesecake use. I'm putting on weight.  🙂

money doesn`t matter, thanks ?!

I would do a serious check with Thai regulations regarding bringing "scripted weed into the Kingdom.

Here's the biggest laugh of the year "By controlling this field with precision, Thai officials hope to demonstrate leadership in managing medical cannabis responsibly."

Three of those conditions are easily faked and can't be diagnosed.

If tourism relied on cannabis, then it's good it's being controlled...I think your comment is quite rediculous.

CWell, these are the new rules, but any changes on the ground.?

I am in Vietnam at the moment ,my next trip to Thailand will be in November, that is if weed is still available. If not my next Vietnamese visa run will be to the Philippines, where I haven't been in ages.

Thai law renders prostitution illegal but I vaguely remember spotting, on rare occasions, sex workers in LOS.

You will be able to buy all you need here in Thailand.

Legal or not ,the market and the supply are not going to dis appear.

Money does not matter, how many kilo's do you want?

Always good when someone encourages someone else to break the law on drugs in a S.E. Asian country. This is why I don't give 2 hoots about your opinion, just making it bad for all the legal expats

seems 2 hoots is enough to react.

I did not encourage any one to break the law.

I was just stating the obvious.

Are you just a concerned when some one says you can always buy alcohol at any mom and pop shop?

Come on every recreational dope smoker in the world could have these symptoms indefinitely....

So to cut to the chase....

They want people to be free to smoke all the weed they want..

As long as the weed is bought through a few government hand picked connected growers who will be reaping massive profits....While Somchai grower starves...

This is all about profits for the few... Its not about quality products or anyones health at all....

Remember the days when you could stay in a bar till the early hours ,they would just pull the door down.

I see a similar sort of scenario developing here some sellers will be handing it out under the table while issuing brown envelopes.

The trade will easily go underground again.

With no laws in place and no government in office , this and any other currently running threads claiming to state  the legal status of cannabis, should be dismissed as nothing more than click bait, and ignored.

Rules and regulations cannot be dreamed up by any random officials as and when they wish, there is due procedure to be followed

So, people undergoing chemo don't deserve to reduce nausea? Did someone pull this list of out their <deleted>?

Fortunately, in reality, prescriptions are a farce, stores remain open like before, and nobody cares or asks about your prescription. Online vendors also remain open and ask no questions.

I'm sure the dispensary's on-premise doctor will be able to diagnose at least one of these conditions in every patient who's presenting themselves. Within about a minute.
