Will the Indians be inside the tents p issing out or outside the tents p issing in?

I think camping on the beach is a good idea. Just not on Pattaya Beachfront. But why not create a beach "campground?" Choose an area that is out of the way like other campground sites. I can only recall seeing a campground site in the Khao Yai area, but I always thought it was a good way for people on a budget to travel around. At good place for a campground would be on stretches of Na Jomtien beach front. Somewhere an entrepreneur could establish an area that had security, toilet accessibility, places for small units to congregate (benches, fire pits etc.) and trash disposal and all for a nominal fee. A bigger idea would be a campground that included RVs, if there is such a thing as RVs in Thailand (Don't believe I've ever seen one in Thailand). Probably wouldn't cost as much as building a moderately priced storage facility which is another thing the greater Pattaya area needs.

Why not set up a camp site in the Pattaya area if the demand is there? Maybe have a small 7-11 there, toilets and shower facilities as well. I guess that would be asking far too much though.

The indians will love thatt , digging <deleted>ter holes in the sand ,

cheers SS

That's just what Thailand needs now. A new set of people who don't contribute to anything in Thailand. People who actually can't afford to be here, sitting at the beach smoking weed?

Thailand do have a few of these camping places, just not near the beach areas. If they had, that would attract too many backpackers to these places, with no means to stay here, and ruin the genuine Thailand. I'm sure Thai people wouldn't want that at all.

This is the absolute most ridiculous idea I've ever heard. They have no idea what they are doing here, with litter, poop and peeing everywhere.

Are they really this dumb?

Yes.

I'm too old to enjoy sleeping on rocks in a natural sauna, but one of my best weekends in Thailand was a trip to Pilok where there were thousands of campers.  The vast majority were Thai people.  They were really enjoying the camping.  We ducked into a hotel with A/C but it was great to wander around and catch the vibe.

I agree that Pattaya (especially the beach) isn't a good spot.  You'd have too many women walking around bowl legged and scratching, because that sand gets everywhere and it ruins the mood.

Agree with all those who suggest this is an idiotic idea...

The objections are entirely sound: extra pollution, haphazard rubbish disposal, no proper washing facilities, nowhere for grey water, and a total lack of toilets or showers.

An..... 'beach camping' is hardly some radical innovation to attract tourists. It already exists in places like Sirinat National Park Campground in Phuket. I once stayed there decades ago after missing a flight – the tents were already pitched, I ate at a nearby beach restaurant, and it was… tolerable. Pleasant even, until the suffocating heat made sleep a laughable prospect.

And that, of course, is the fatal flaw: with abundant cheap accommodation available, choosing to camp here is entirely supererogatory – an unnecessary gesture that adds nothing but discomfort to the equation.

But.... as bkk6060 wryly observed, the comic inevitability is hard to ignore: these tents won’t be the domain of starry-eyed adventurers communing with nature, but rather Ice and her LB retinue, industriously dispensing brisk “beach quickies” to the ever-hurried and gloriously undiscerning monger brigade...

Imagine the next morning....the so called morning after....everywhere most full condoms, poo and other excrements.

The next wave will transport everything into the sea where kiddies with you are swimming.

Congrats 🤢

I think they should go ahead and do it. I'll refer some of the tourists down south here to go over there 😄

Exactly!  Even the south end of Jomtien beach is pretty deserted, but has enough restaurants with washrooms, and I'm sure portable ones will come up quick.

Those businesses could use some help with "tourists" camping on the beach in front of them.

Tents only  make any sense in the winter months up north in the mountains.

Yes, my Mrs suggested that several times, but I was not to be persuaded. It was misery when I was a kid, school camp, Easter Weekend in the Lake district, in a pals back garden! There are a lot more biting bugs and creepy crawlies in this country. Imagine one of those big centipedes in your sleeping bag!

Good point. I was totally against the idea but now that you point out the benefits, I'm all in 🙂

The ladyboys could all be arrested for loitering within tent!

It always will be, still too many open sewer lines around.
