90 day notification -- do while abroad before due date?

Featured Replies

The due date of my next notification is Sept. 23, so I am now within the window to do it online. However, I am now overseas and returning to Thailand Sept 13. I understand that you need to do notification in person at CW the first time after returning from overseas. Should I do it online now? If so, would next time be 90 days from now, or 90 days from when I re-enter Sept. 13? Or should I wait and do it at CW before (or during 7-day grace period after) Sept. 23? If so, would next be 90 days from Sept. 13 or from the date I do it at CW?

Thank you for your advice.

You restart your 90 days when you arrive back in Thailand and no need to notify when coming back.

I've just updated another thread a few minutes ago giving my experience of doing it at the due time even though abroad and being approved.  It keeps you in the online system and hopefully never have to do it in person again.

The next date for me is 3rd December so ~ 90 days from submission.

That's the rules but doing it as described could be much easier.

I didn’t know you could do that after flying out

Where can I find that other thread with your experience pls? Thanks.

Neither did I until I tried it but others have done similar if you see the other thread.

You could look at my previous posts but here's a link to the one I referred to anyway.

No.

90 day reporting works like this,

If you're in the country for 90 continuous days you file.

If you leave the country before the 90th day the count down stops and when you return to Thai land your next 90 day report will be due 89 days from the date you entered (the day you stamp in is counted as day one).

I personally wouldn't do that file online even though you're not in the country and your report is not really due just because you got an automatic email based on your last report date. 😕

I think you have enough information to make an educated decision, best of luck with it.

My understanding of the 90-day notice is that you notify Immigration that you are living in Thailand. You have to renew it every 90 days. So, I don't think you could post when you're not in Thailand. Also, when you return to Thailand, you'll get a new 90-day notice.

And kind of "funny" showing the immature IT of Thai offices like immigration.

Report of "staying in the country" while you have left the country.

What happens after re-entry? Absurd.

Absurd is being kind.

The need to do 90 reporting in person (or mail) after trip abroad is just off the charts ridiculous.

Especially when rules were changed in June 2020 and TM30 was not required after trip abroad if returning to same address with same visa/reenty permit.

He shouldn't need to do a TM.47 (90-day report) when he returns, correct? The 90-day clock should restart again upon his return to Thailand.

Should he get his landlord to do a TM.30 within 24 hours after his return from overseas? Or, is that not needed anymore?

DrJack54, can you please explain the current reporting rules when one reenters the country?

"The TM.30 form is used to report where you’re staying. If you’re a foreigner and you sleep somewhere that’s not a hotel, your landlord has to report it within 24 hours."

Yep. Thinking a 90 day report would be of interest to Thailand if your not actually in the country is a ludicrous idea.

"if staying in the Kingdom for more than 90 days, that alien has a duty to report his/her residence to an Immigration Bureau officer every 90 days."

Can someone please explain the current rules for reporting to IM using the following forms. When is reporting needed, and not needed? Thank you kindly.

TM.30 - for Landlord to report when foreigner returns to Thailand

   * I think this is the form hotels use to report a foreigner's stay

TM.47 - for foreigner to do 90-day reporting to IM

   * should only need to do if staying over 90 days in country, right?

   * doesn't the clock reset when one reenters Thailand?

TM.95 - for foreigner to do 1-year reporting to IM (for LTR visa holders)

   * should only need to do if staying over 1 year in country, right?

   * doesn't the clock reset when one reenters Thailand?

That's clever.....could save some hassle....but.....does the IO have access to/knowledge of your trip via the TM6 on returning or at passport control on exiting???

On a side note....

I entered Thailand in early July and my wife went to Nonthaburi IO and did the silly TM30 thing.

I left Thailand mid July and returned late July, and it was inconvenient for her to rush to do TM30 so she called them. They told her, no problem because it's the same house, and I have the slip of paper.

But she SWEARS BLIND that they told her I have to do the TM47 (90 day) within 90 days from my entry in EARLY July, which is stupid.

Has anyone else heard of this?

At the end of the day I will either do it on line some time in October, or just go for another little trip.

The entry early July started 90 day clock.

However seems you left again and returned Late July.

Your next 90 day report will be in person or via mail. Due 89 days after entry date.

Note for report via mail it would need to be made when report window opens (15 days prior to due date)

I did do the notification online last week and it was rejected saying that I had left the country. So now I know I should do it only after returning to Thailand. And I do at CW by 90 days from the day I re-enter, starting 15 days before the due date, correct? And I gather that CW does not require a new TM30 if returning to same address? Thank you.

Both points correct.

What was entry date

I have not yet re-entered.

Yes as previously stated this is correct.

Note: simply type into Google "entry date plus 89 days"

There are sites that spit out the new "due date"

Then for open window just count back 15 days from due date.

By way of example, I just googled "September 1 2025 plus 89 days"

The first result spits out...

"Your starting date is September 1, 2025 so that means that 89 days later would be November 29, 2025."
