  • For Thailand's sake, let's hope it influences the political landscape with less corruption, nepotism and empire building.

  • Not surprising to hear several politicians sadden that such a "great" man like thaksin is burdened and has to go to prison for the one thing that they actually were able to pin him down on. Even after

And yet in recent history he and his family members were democratically elected to PM office time and again.

Who actually ELECTED Paetontarn to the PM office????...

Certainly not the people.

The PTP stole the election from the people who chose the Future Forward party.

And it was they the PTP party who elected the PM... Not the people.

she was a party list MP  you are 100% correct the people did not vote for her

but saying that in a normal democratic system the people DO NOT vote for the PM

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul expressed deep sympathy for Thaksin, acknowledging his past leadership role during remarks at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters.

Odd that he also failed to acknowledge the rampant corruption, self-enrichment and multiple deaths caused by his drugs policy.........

Does the jumped up buffoon not wonder why, perhaps, Thaksin is in jail???????

A court case of a bus driver and associates caused a fire in a bus full of of children, were sentenced to 8 years in prison - that has been reduced to a “suspended sentence”  twenty children were killed on that bus, and they get a suspended sentence??   Mr T should have gotten one year in prison ‘suspended’ and ordered to Home Confinement and electronic monitoring.

Crocodile tears. There, but for the grace of God go I.

just another criminal

1 year jail what a joke

Something for you get started on.

He has billions of baht stashed  away, he has multiple properties worth billions in this country and overseas.

He has multiple shares invested earning him more money.

The poor of the country who he said he would elevate out of poverty are still poor, after years of promises and 3 members of the Shinawatras in the PM position.

The man is a self indulgent liar.

Since he was first elected, during how many years have they been governing the country? At first glance  4 +2 + 2, that 6 years over 25 years, maybe 8 years if we count the short-lived PT governments that have not been really able to govern because of yellow protests.

The rest of the time, more than 2/3 of the last 25 years, Thailand has been governed by the military and the Dems. And you are blaming the Shins for the current state of Thailand..... :coffee1:

More precisely, the Junta appointed Senate stole the election from the people.

Please don't get him too upset with facts, it could cause long term problems for him.

He's just saying to PT that he's not their enemy though they are currently on opposite sides of Parliament.

I am sure he is.

His rise is due to the fall of the Shinawatra dynasty.

I don't understand the hatred directed at Thaksin. What am I missing?  I would honestly like to know without stepping on anyone's toes or being called an idiot.

In British English, it is referred to as a "pile-on". Posters join in with the consensus.

I'm saying the Shins while in power achieved nothing for Thailand...

Saddened?

I should imagine he is chuffed to NAAFI break!

Or saddened to see the change in sentiment with the courts. He and many of his cohorts might have an uncomfortable feeling that they might not be untouchable at some future time.

I certainly know how to use it.

I have developed a cynical view of mega corporations over the years.

They are information hungry for their own, possibly, nefarious needs. Much the same as I have an aversion to totalitarian regimes such as the CCP.

At least the CCP are open about control.

Does anyone really know what or how the, basically, unregulated corporations are doing.

As some smart person said years ago, knowledge is power.

Sadly I do believe to some extent that life imitates art.

RoboCop springs to mind.

Anutin described the situation as saddening, noting that it is difficult to see someone of Thaksin's experience facing imprisonment.

So Mr. Anutin, you'd surmise that prison is for commoners and not for "someone" like rich, wealthy, and powerful.  Interesting to know...

Happy to be a dissident. Nay, not happy, I'm proud to be a dissident. Hopefully I can, in a small way, improve the world, or at least slow the decline into Orwell's 1984, for my grandkids.

Google is free isn't it?

Then you are the product.

Let that sink in.
