That's all irrelevant because guess what? You're always going to have different opinions, life choices in open societies.

You can't stop that, but what you can stop is giving people the means to act out their anger in violent ways. 

Ban guns, it's as simple as that. 

Have a grace period of a month to hand them in and after that it's long time jail for any possessor of guns but law enforcement.

You're also forgetting the obvious.  Denying guns to law abiding people would open the season to rob, burglarize and carjack them with no fear.

 

If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.  They're not going to give theirs up.  (And sadly, all of mine fell overboard on my last fishing trip offshore)

I don't forget about gun ownership but many think it shouldn't happen. I sold guns for years and have hunted for 50, and hunters are the ones who teach their children not only responsibility for guns but respect for animals, even though they hunt them. Irresponsible gun ownership is what makes it hard for those who are.

I think there are more guns in the US than cars, and more car deaths than gun deaths, but when someone intentionally runs over someone and kills them, no one ever assumes the car is to blame.

People who don't hunt or target shoot don't understand why others do. Those that want to protect themselves and or their loved ones, won't be understood either because of the amount of irresponsible gun owners that allow others to get their hands on them, or don't practice safe ownership by locking their guns away. The same for those who drive haphazardly. Everyone thinks they can own a car and it doesn't take more than money to own one. Licenses are easy to get no matter how bad a driver you end up being. For guns some don't take enough responsibility and it hurts the rest, the same as drivers.
