A 35-year-old man and his friend successfully captured a large freshwater crocodile in a canal in Bang Krok, Ban Laem District, Phetchaburi, on 13 September 2025. The reptile was spotted floating near local homes, raising concerns for community safety.

The crocodile, estimated to be 6–7 years old, was lured using a fresh chicken carcass and caught with a pipe and rope loop placed around its neck. The men then dragged the animal to the bank and secured it safely.

Officials from the local rescue team were called to inspect the animal. The canal connects to the Phetchaburi River and is near the mouth of Bang Tabun Bay, meaning the crocodile could have posed a significant risk to nearby residents.

Authorities have coordinated with the provincial freshwater fisheries protection unit to take the crocodile for further care. The animal is now under supervision at a nursery facility to ensure both public safety and the crocodile’s well-being.

The incident highlights the potential dangers of wildlife entering populated areas, especially in regions connected to larger waterways. Officials have urged local residents to remain vigilant and report sightings of large wildlife promptly.

Good job catching this croc,  but at this size it is hardly a risk to people. Even small children would be too big for this guy to tackle.

Soi dogs are more of a risk to residents - but nothing is done about them…..

Lunch sorted... get the rice on.

I'm always relieved to read that when an animal like this is captured, it will be relased in an area where it will not be considered dangerous to humans. I wish that were the same for soi dogs. 🥺

When people take matters in own hands(counter attacking and killing any of them), they are arrested.

And the same applies to even cops.
