Party time till midnight?? Another reason to give Thailand a wide berth!   Vietnam as an alternative looks better every day...

  • I have a live-in girlfriend. No problems with “intercourse”.  At 75 it doesn’t matter that much.

The other is the chic hiso clubs "do you know who my uncle is?!"

and the bar owners ?

Right on, surely its the bar owner who is at fault for selling the drinks after 'hours'?

There seems to be a view that the previous night time extensions have been rescinded.

Is there any link to support that view.

2.  In most western countries they fine the owner not the patrons as it is the owners/managers responsibility to ensure the closure law is regulated for that establishment and not the patrons who have no idea as to what the hours are by local law,

I lean toward liking this approach. I used to own a small business and resented being forced to enforce various silly government laws. If it's important, they should do it, and not make business owners do unpaid service.

But I agree it's a problem because most Westerners, if they order a beer and get it, will assume they aren't breaking the law.

(...) the law prohibits the sale of alcohol from midnight to 11 am. You, ( ‿ * ‿ ) wipe.

AI Overview

Thailand's alcohol zoning is a system of regulations on where and when alcohol can be sold, with recent updates in June 2025 allowing 24-hour sales at international airports, licensed entertainment venues, and hotels. Outside these new exemptions, sales are restricted to 11:00–14:00 and 17:00–24:00 daily. Sales are prohibited near schools, religious sites, and gas stations, and consumption is restricted in public spaces like parks and beaches.

Soft drinks and juice after midnight.

Is that true? I haven't been out in over a year and then it was easy to drink for 24 hours per day in Pattaya if you knew where to go.  Some wild stuff happens in the wee hours when there are few customers and a lot of women who want to make a last minute couple of hundred baht.

No, I was ridiculing the latest announcement of enforcing the alcohol laws.

Thailand authorities are always trying to stir the pot like this.

They seem incapable of just chilling out.

It is and remains a backward country and is starting to resemble a Muslim country more and more.

For example, this is what I came across today:

One thing I liked about Cambodia is I could just have a beer. When I'm in Thailand I still can't remember the exact hours, was it between 12-3pm? or 5pm? Even now I can't remember the exact times. Fortunately, I can just get a quart of milk instead when I go in.

I guess I have to be the party booper 😄

This is a good move for most places, and still you will find night clubs in designated areas open longer, and also 24/7 bars for those who want to keep it going.

Most places in Europe pubs and restaurants around living areas usually close down earlier, while more noisy establishments is outside and have more designated areas.

True, except for the paternalistic no drinking between the hours of 1400 to 1700.  Why do Thais tolerate being treated like dull witted children by a government that most wouldn't trust to run a Kool-aid stand?  The chit that's going on here lately is getting under my skin, and I don't even drink.

I thought this already ceased to exist in Thailand, or is it only in tourist areas?

Weird law. If they pass this, Thailand will instantly have the worst nightlife in SE Asia.

All ready been passed, we have to wait and see if enforced

Isn't this like the restrictions during COVID days?

As usual, all laws bump into the gray zone with MMOONNNIEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY KOO RUP! The baht talks and the 9000 a month cop WALKS!

The Thai live music club at Soi Excite went until 0416 last night.
