Samsung have some of the best microwaves money can buy.

My last one lasted 2 years so not sure about that!
Phones are great though and our washing machine is good although just had it  fixed after around 6 years (buttons failed)

Old fridges seemed to last for ever. But they use a lot more power than the new ones.

That was true forty years ago, but not so true in the last 20.

Hisense would be even worse.

Real quality costs money, Bosch have a store on Lazada.

If you want it cheap then Hitachi is the best option.

I certainly would not trust a Hisense fridge.

 Yes i agree with this!

Samsung double front fridge freezer, ice maker, now 17+ years old, had new compressor fitted about 2 years back..🤗

Though I do take the gubbins cover at the back off to clean out all the dust etc from the condenser and stuff to help the heat dissipation. It is not pushed up against the wall, so fan can do its thing..

Yes, it goes from model to model, some are cheap and cheerful but others are superb. Same with phones actually.

Not sure with washing machines from Samsung, but I have an LG washing machine which is superb. Like my Samsung microwave going over 2 years now and no issues. I particularly love the Samsung microwave because it has the genius rotating dial operation, press microwve and rotate to select 30 second increments. Genius. Also looks sleek and gorgeous.

That's what I would expect. My Sharp m'wave 5 years old and no issues. I have only recently taken the plastic covering off the control panel. I can increase mine in 1 second intervals, as well as 1 or 10 minutes, via buttons.

Do neighbours come in to look at your sleek, gorgeous microwave?   555

That's one of the benefits of getting older; your next fridge will probably see u out of this life.

Is it just me with the dodgy fridges, I remember back in the UK in the 1960s the fridge lasted 20 years before it broke.

Not only you ! I kept a fridge in my country 14 years, and I gave it to somebody because I was leaving for Thailand, it still worked very well

Here, I bought a Panasonic, but after 5 years, it broke, I must have it repaired two times before it broke , may be I was unlucky, but now I want an other brand

two years ago, I bought an Electrolux ( I trust Swedish quality, as German quality ) and so far it works very well, not very expensive because made in Thailand

Lg 9 cubic foot inverter fridge freezer, only 4 years 4 months old and it's broken, cost 9,000bht new

Everything in the freezer melted, no ice.

Wasn't happy about the fridge door wear either, seems the surface is silver paper and not metal

(This is after my Samsung fridge failed after 5 years cost 8,000bht new)

No point buying LG or Samsung again, premium price for low quality product.

So a quick browse of Lazada for a 9Q, 2 door fridge freezer gets me

Hisense 8.8Q fridge freezer from Lotussssss for 5,275bht

I guess at that price if it lasts 4 years I'll be happy enough!

It says 10 year warranty on the sticker. Why not pursue that option?

If the crappy door finish hadn't worn through, I would have considered repair.

But as Trans pointed the worn door finish just looks dirty.

Enamel spray can can fix that.

Bingo.  Try a Hitachi.

My Hitachi fridge has been reliable.  Never tried an LG product.

My Sharp fridge will be coming up for it’s ten year birthday soon, never missed a beat even after moving home 3 times.

Only trouble is it is a bit small, considering buying the same again and having one for food and the other for drinks ( and the multitude of creams and perfumes that her ladyship has decided should live in the fridge ! ).

Yah, the buttons are no good. Try one with a rotating dial. Life changing.

Electrolux fridges are made in Mexico, Italy and the US. Electrolux do not sell any fridges made in Sweden globally. Most Electrolux fridges are built on the German AEG fridge models now I suspect.

We very much like our Panasonic refrigerator - double door with the freezer on the bottom.

We have a small Samsung in the dining room that gets lots of opening to get out cold water and yoghurt drinks - saves wear and tear on the more expensive Panasonic that actually has food in it.

Double drawers in the refrigerator section - one for meats/seafood, one for vegetables.

https://www.panasonic.com/th/consumer/kitchen-appliance/refrigerator/2-door-bottom-freezer-refrigerator.html

No complaints except for the little bit of groaning as the freon circulates, that and needing to brace the overflow reservoir that was vibrating - a rubber washer fixed that.  Assume it will keep going longer than me.

Not cheap (today's prices seem to run around 20K - , but I have some faith in the brand from my many Lumix digital cameras and other things over the years.

No, there's no dirt, the 'Silver effect' paper finish on the door has worn through.

If you rub it hard, more paper falls off.

i have an LG fridge freezer. Still going strong after 16 years. But the silver door has faded to beige like yours. Nothing peeled  off, it just seems like the silver coating just faded away. Maybe due to the Sun.

Anyone know if Haier (Chinese brand) fridges are any good?

If I am correct, there is a factory in Rayong

type this address

Electrolux Thailand Inaugurates New Factory in Hemaraj RIL | WHA Industrial Development

and on the fridge, there is a sticker written " Manufacturer Electrolux Thailand Co.ltd "

Your fridge is in a square corner.   That's 90 degrees.   Way too hot!!

Also, did you see that Hook Screwed in the wall, so close to the side of the fridge?

Probably he hangs his mops there.

What a mess.

After 4 years....you STILL have not removed those ugly energy stickers, and other weird stickers, from door of your fridge?

Don't you care about aesthetics?

The first thing I do when buying anything in Thailand is remove the UGLY stickers plastered all over, everywhere.

It's crazy how Thai people love stickers.

Maybe somebody should sell extra stickers, in case they run out or might want more.

I am still pleased, as I knew I would be, having purchased a Hitachi, fairly large, for about Bt.14,000.00, in 2017.

In the last house, it worked super hard in scorching temps due to position of the sun.

Glad I moved out of that dump a couple of years ago.

This will ensure me an extra 10 years of life for the Hitachi.

Also, I am pleased with a quite large Samsung machine.

Already 3 years, and I like it.

I thought I would hate it, due to the brand...

But, recently Samsung quality seems good (except their ACs, probably).

What is all this DISCOLORATION on the top and bottom door panels?

image.png.7372b1789bd16c7c4e7ccfc870440029.png

That's disgusting!

Don't you people ever wash your hands?

I am NOT surprised that this machine caved in after 4 years.

I would not have lasted 2 days in an environment like that.

Stop abusing your machine, and it might last longer.

I have always thought Hitachi a great company, since back in the early 70s.

My Hitachi fridge works great, after hard use in an EXTREMELY hot kitchen.

Not sure why Hitachi is not far more popular in the Thai market.

Instead, they seem to all bunch together and reflexively buy Mitsubishi.

But I think Mitsubishi is not HALF as good as most locals seem to think.

I would never pay my own money for a Mitsubishi ANYTHING.

10 years is on the digital inverter, not on the compressor or any other parts

I have a Samsung side by side with the small door in the fridge door to get the bottles,. Couldn't be happier with it after 12 years, but it cost 14 times what the OP paid.

I know that you get what you pay for, and I guess the item in the OP isn't suitable for the bargain thread

TERRIBLE decision.

I will never, again, be so foolish.

(At least, I shall never buy this brand, again, in Thailand)

If in Japan, then Panasonic is good.

Oh no, GammaGrunge, the home-appliance-obsessed, self-appointed god of air conditioners, washing machines, pollution filters, CPU fans, electric dildos, vibrating butt plugs, and every other gadget under the sun has descended upon us once again. Brace yourselves, because this topic isn’t about replacing a fridge anymore, it’s already mutating into a shrine to Gamma’s unhinged ramblings. Escape this entire topic while you can, or better yet, plead with the mods to lock it down before the spiral of GG drivel becomes irreversible.

LG supposedly has a good reputation, but the number of chronic defects reported suggests otherwise. At the prices cited, the refrigerators are disposable consumer items. They are not intended to last and if you can get 3-5 years from them, then they  met their purpose. For comparison sake, a small freestanding Miele refrigerator retails for ฿ 600,000. I believe the basic built in models can be purchased for ฿ 200,000.   They have a 2 year warranty, and are considered the most reliable equipment in the  industry.

I am really curious about that door. I have never seen this before.

You can literally pour acid on north American appliances and nothing will happen. I have a washer/dryer combo that is 25 years old and 4 different tenants and still works properly.

In Thailand the problem in quite a few known international brands could be that they sell their brand name under licence and it's assembled in a crappy manner locally.
