Condo transfer completed, but older owner name still on electric

Featured Replies

hi

i recently purchased and transferred a condo to my name View talay 6, Pattaya

I then went to PEA electricity office and informed them of the sale/transfer, they asked me to go to my bank, fill in a form and then start the direct debit.

so far so good

however, after 3 months the electrical bill still shows the previous owner name at the top, my name is further down as a payer.

the water bill is ok.

can anyone advise me, how to get my name at the top

Go back to PEA

As above, you need to go and see PEA with ID, chanote etc. They want a couple of thousand baht to change it, which seems a little excessive, so a  lot of people don't bother as the bills still come no matter whose name is on it.

I have owned 3-4 properties and never bothered with changing the name, especially when they want so much to change it

I believe PEA can’t be bothered to change it, and most new owners can’t be bothered also.

However

someone has also just told me.

i need to buy a new Elec meter, because i don;t own the old meter

is this the reason why the name has not Been changed ??

Maybe true, i bought my condo 5 years ago and haven't added my name to the PEA bill, no need to

Most owners certainly don't but during Covid they were actually offering refunds of the bill - I think it was a scheme to try and help out during that time.

I can’t understand why any owner doesn’t want the correct name on the utility bill.

especially for proof of residence.

Many other countries insist a proof of residence is in a form of a utility bill.

Use internet bill or condo maintenance receipts.
