Well, neither are MAGA Evangelicals actually Christian. Christian Nationalists are not Christian.

 

Name a single Trump or MAGA policy that follows the teachings of Jesus, as detailed in M, M, L, & J.

 

I'm not religious, but I do know what ideals and values the Jesus fellow believed and preached, and MAGA follows a sum total of none of them. Their Jesus is just a prop to hide behind while they preach things that are the polar opposite of what Jesus supposedly said.

 

Humility? Caring for the poor? Caring for the sick? Welcoming the stranger? Eschewing material wealth? Turning the other cheek?

Strictly IMO, I would suspect the killer was, or once was, LDS.  They pretty much keep to their own community, and, generally speaking, they seem good at controlling outside publicity.  

 

Some years ago there was a US film called The Night of the Hunter.  One of the themes is a conflict within US Christianity: the God of mercy vs the God of vengeance and righteousness.  The villain carries a hollowed out Bible with a pistol inside, and has the words 'love' and 'hate' tattooed on his knuckles (yes, Clash fans, this is where that came from).

I confess that I cannot understand someone should try to make political points from shootings. Most people now blurt out that a shooter was left wing or LGBTQ only to keep quiet or deflect when it turns out to be a right-wing gun nut. Maybe wait for the investigation to be complete before the wild accusations are thrown around.

Unfortunately the president seems to make it his mission to conflate these tragedies for political gain and to further divide us……sometimes it seems to me they are bent on a divide and conquer mission….the goal being to kill democracy and install them selves in power permanently.hope I’m mistaken but I fear I’m not.
