AFAIR Thailand is NOT a Jewish country either,  so why should it follow the fanaticism of a country which claims that the land was given to them by a mythical god thousands of years ago, who no one has ever seen.

Where in the text below is it stated that "the land was given to them by a mythical god..." ?

Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel

The Land of Israel was the birthplace of the Jewish people. Here their spiritual, religious, and political identity was shaped. Here they first attained to statehood, created cultural values of national and universal significance and gave to the world the eternal Book of Books.

After being forcibly exiled from their land, the people kept faith with it throughout their Dispersion and never ceased to pray and hope for their return to it and for the restoration in it of their political freedom.

Impelled by this historic, religious and national attachment, Jews strove in every generation to reestablish themselves in their ancient homeland. In recent decades they returned in their masses. They came as immigrants, and they made the desert bloom; they revived the Hebrew language; they built villages and towns, and created a flourishing society.

In the year 1897, the First Zionist Congress convened and declared the right of the Jewish people to national rebirth in their own land. This right was recognized in the Balfour Declaration of the 2nd of November, 1917, and reaffirmed by the Mandate of the League of Nations, which was accepted by the Members of the League.

The catastrophe which recently befell the Jewish people—the massacre of millions of Jews in Europe—cannot be ignored, nor the pre-existing national homeland claims.

On the basis of the United Nations General Assembly resolution of the 29th of November, 1947, which called for the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel, the Jews of the Land of Israel are today, in the exercise of their natural, historical, and political right, bringing into existence a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the State of Israel.

We hereby declare the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the State of Israel.

We declare that, with effect from the moment of the termination of the Mandate being tonight, the State of Israel will be open for Jewish immigration and for the ingathering of the exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on the precepts of liberty, justice, and peace taught by the Hebrew prophets; it will uphold the full social and political equality of all its citizens, without distinction of race, religion, or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education, and culture; it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions; and it will be loyal to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

We appeal to the Arab inhabitants of the State of Israel to preserve peace and participate in the upbuilding of the State on the basis of full and equal citizenship and due representation in all its provisional and permanent institutions.

We extend our hand to all neighboring states and their peoples in an offer of peace and good neighborliness, and appeal to them to establish bonds of cooperation and mutual help with the sovereign Jewish people settled in its own land.

The State of Israel is prepared to cooperate with the agencies and representatives of the United Nations in implementing the resolution of the General Assembly of the 29th of November, 1947, and will take steps to bring about the economic union of the whole of Eretz-Israel.

We appeal — in the very midst of the onslaught launched against us now for months — to the Jewish people throughout the Diaspora to rally round the Jews of Eretz-Israel in the task of immigration and upbuilding and to stand by them in the great struggle for the realization of the age-old dream — the redemption of Israel.

Placing our trust in the Almighty, we affix our signatures to this proclamation at this session of the Provisional State Council, on the soil of the homeland, in the city of Tel Aviv, this Sabbath eve, the 5th of Iyar, 5708 (14th May, 1948).

On behalf of the Provisional State Council:
David Ben-Gurion, Chairman

It's always good to confuse the manager, it's fun and it's refreshing to see a confused manager. It's not an easy topic it certainly is a very loaded topic, but I think in this particular case it relates more to nationality than to religion. They're being refused entry not because they're Jewish but because they are Israeli, and they just happen to be Jewish.

That's your opinion. The reality is that the Israelis are not the ones running about naked in patong or Pattaya, or stabbing people, or driving drunk that we read about on weekly basis are they? I keep  reaaing  the comments of people like you who trash Chinese tourists, Israelis, even Indians when the reality is that it is the visitors from  Europe, UK  and Australia who are the  people who feature in the crime reports.

Show me a few instances where I have trashed Chinese tourists  or Indian tourists. I happen to like most Chinese people and I like Indian people very much. I lived and worked there for years and have been there many many times. I adore the people and the culture and the food. So I don't think you'll be able to quote me on saying unkind things about those folks.

close his restaurant we don't want people like this in Thailand ,  open a turkish restaurant in gaza city 🤣

Who is the "we" you are talking about. because you are  not talking for me or millions of Thai people.

The restaurant owner decided to open because he most probably saw a chance to make some money, If by turning away customers, he loses money that is his choice and his right and is up to him, not you or me or anybody else.

Thailand’s charter permits racism and other discrimination, except to Thai people

Better to not have those kinds of people in your establishment.

And of course the arabs never do that do they. 😤😤

Are some of your "best friends" Chinese and Afro Americans too?

@Reddavy 555 Please recount your experiences. I speak only to what I have witnessed and what others have told me they have witnessed.

Of course one might take umbrage at someone suggesting otherwise.

In reply to your statement...why mention Arabs? Is it jews against arabs day? It's not a competition, just discussing realities. You can tell your own related stories.

@Jingthing I tend to agree with you that it's not a monlith.

In this apparently quickfire medium it's easier to respond with emotions. If someone expressed a view that is abhorent to you, your reply may reflect that feeling.

That doesn't mean that you mean harm to that person or even hate them. You might just choose to avoid them. Much as if someone lied to you, you would be less inclined to trust them again and so, choose to avoid them. Hence, repulsive or repugnant. Strong words perhaps, but a true reflection of the feeling.

But not necessarily refective of in-person behaviour. For example, when humans are treated like vermin. As if they don't matter.  It's not natural for me to align myself with such views and coming from jews, even more appalling.

On the surface, that is abhorent to me. So when I see people supporting such views, there is a reaction....to that view. Which then permeates through the discussion.

Easy to take it personally I suppose.

In this case, the restaurant did not do this. It was other customers who brought their petty hatreds with them to Thailand.

You are forever hectoring and finger pointing at people as to your views on morality and political appropriateness. And yet here you are clearly stating that you believe in discrimination and institutional prejudice. You are the first to  scream apartheid in Israel, but you are arguing for the practice. You know who else had such a view? The people who enforced the Jim Crow era laws in the USA. They did not want the "coloureds" in their restaurants. Theyused the same justification as you. What's next, forbidding juden from using  public water fountains? Segregating schools? Perhaps forbidding their use of public hospitals? Your hypocrisy and latent prejudice  is exposed.

@Patong2021  @spidermike007 opinion is shared almost universally by everyone who has been in contact with the Israelis, apart from most of the Israeli themselves and their apologists. I write most, as I did meet an Israeli who told me that he prefers to have nothing to do with them on his hols and travelled independently.

And I prefer not to socialize with people who do not occupy my socio economic tier. It makes everyone's life easier.    What's your point?  The people who are making these comments are of lower socio economic status. They create their own pecking orders and justifications  to feel good about themselves. However, the reality is that the people they classify are all the same and are treated accordingly by those who occupy a higher socio economic tier. That's the cold harsh reality of the world we live in. The people who understand this tend to do rather well in life because they spend less time getting upset over nothing and spend more time on activities that further themselves and make them happy.

I think i already quoted my feelings on your topic. There are far more problems with arabs than jews in Thailand. I have experienced both parties and i can quite clearly state the arabs are by far a lot worse. Not saying the jews are perfect or any nation for that matter, but the arabs are only second to the chinese for bad manners arrogance and bad behaviour.

I have travelled a lot, in several continents. Israeli tourists are very arrogant, they think they are superior to local people. I have seen this p.ex. in Argentina, there are now signs at guesthouses, "Israeli not admitted". In Thailand I have seen a guesthouse in Bangkok near Khao San road "For Israelis only". They are racists.

Ben-Gurion was the leader of the Jewish Agency and later the head of the Haganah, the main Jewish paramilitary force during the British Mandate of Palestine.

They engaged in armed resistance, especially during the 1947–1948 civil war.

That is terrorism.

QED he was a terrorist.

Israel-Palestine Row Hits Thai Restaurant on Koh Samui

Too many stupid and arrogant postings. No serious discussion.

I'll close this topic for myself

@Patong2021 Do let me know how you determined that "the people making these comments are of lower socio-economic status".

Even if it were true, how would you regard that as a measure of character? Are you suggesting that only people of a lower socio economic status care about the behaviour of others? I'm not quite getting the connection between those things.

How would you compare say, Jeffrey Epstein's former socio economic status to yours? Is he automatically a better man than you?

Sorry, but not quite understanding the connection. Could you elaborate?

Apologies for highlighting one of your sentences, but, you are so correct and I have no idea why that is.

Worked 38 years overseas in the MN and offshore and met very few antisemitic people.  Finished off working in Damman KSA where I met near zero views on Israel, but returning Thailand met loads.

Now in my 70's and whenever questioning 'Antisemitic' folk on their reasons why they dislike/hate the Jews they give many reasons.  When I reply that others have done the same so why you not dislike them equally, get the "But, its different for them, they killed Jesus"

Sins of the fathers anyone??
