So she is a puppet of the Trump regime, so what really happened is that Trump requested of the Nobel Comittee that Machado get the prize, selfless democrat that he is.

What a leader.

I didn't know a thing about her until hearing she won this prize. But I've been looking her up. She sounds very deserving. She is putting her life on the line constantly. How long before Donald compares himself to her?

And he didn't even tell us about asking the Norwegians to give the prize to Machado.

Cause he didn't want the credit.

This is what true leadership is.

Uh, oh. Saw this on the latest wiki update. Rubio supported her nomination for the prize. How long will Marco have his job?

Thanks for that background, John....

Re Rubio and Trump, that's gotta sting!  :cheesy:

I can foresee an upcoming ICE arrest coming, Trump style!

I thought that referred to the UK restricting free speech?

Hard to believe as it might be, there are great and brave women in this world working for the betterment of the species.

I doubt she would run to the White House bunker if a Code Pink protest developed on Pennsylvania Ave.

As bad of a day as Trump is going to have, deciding what level of tariffs he's going to put on Norwegian imports, or maybe ordering missile strikes on Viking Cruise line ships, imagine how bad of a day some proctologist at Walter Reed is going to have checking Trump's prostate.

"María Corina Machado Parisca (born 7 October 1967) is a Venezuelan politician and industrial engineer who is currently opposition leader in Venezuela....

Machado entered politics in 2002 as the founder and leader of the vote-monitoring group Súmate,[2] alongside Alejandro Plaz.[3][4] She is the National Coordinator of the political party Vente Venezuela. In 2018, she was listed as one of BBC's 100 Women.[5][6] In 2025, Time magazine listed her as one of the world's 100 most influential people.[7] Machado is regarded as a leading figure of the Venezuelan opposition; the Nicolás Maduro government in Venezuela has banned Machado from leaving Venezuela." On 1 August 2024, Machado published a letter in The Wall Street Journal, stating that she had gone in to hiding "fearing for my life, my freedom, and that of my fellow countrymen from the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro"."

Well, I suppose that's a good thing as if he had won it, then there would be mass suicides of forum members one way or the other.

Good thing Trump will save her with well targeted missile strikes.

Wherever there is trouble, a damsel in distress, or ANTIFA are spraying graffiti....fear not...

Trump will help.

Good take from Finland President.

Oddly, Maduro is one dictator in the world whom Trump is on the outs with:

"Since early August, when Trump signed a secret directive authorizing military action against Latin American drug cartels, the US president has labelled Maduro a “narco-terrorist” fugitive and advertised a $50m reward for his arrest; deployed marines and warships off Venezuela’s Caribbean coast; and ordered at least four deadly strikes on alleged drug smuggling boats, which have killed at least 21.

Washington has justified its strikes as part of a crackdown on Venezuelan narco-traffickers whom the US accuses of flooding its streets with drugs, supposedly at Maduro’s behest. “They’re the enemies of all humanity,” Trump told the UN last month, vowing to blow such “terrorist thugs … out of existence”.

But many observers suspect Trump’s counter-narcotics crusade is really a pretext to depose Maduro, either by sparking an internal rebellion against Hugo Chávez’s authoritarian heir or perhaps through direct military intervention within Venezuela itself."

With Maduro's background as detailed below, you'd think Trump would like him and consider him a kindred spirit.... But perhaps Maduro's nominal political affiliation as a Socialist did him in with Trump:

"Maduro is widely considered a dictator, leading an authoritarian government characterized by electoral fraud, serious human rights abuses, rampant corruption, and severe economic hardship."

I can see it now, Trump invades Venezuela, saves Machado after sending the Navy Seals to liberate her from her incarceration. They hold a press conference, he kisses her lovingly on the cheek and says "Well, I guess you needed the US military more than the Nobel Peace Prize, Maria"?. Then she grabs him by the....

He does have a complex, a dictator one. And judges keep getting overturned when the adults get in the room

Machado has gone into hiding. She makes unannounced appearances in Venezuela, for example, giving a speech from the back of a delivery truck and then fleeing on a motorcycle. "I'm where I feel most useful to the struggle in Venezuela," Machado said in September of last year.

The engineer first became involved in Venezuelan politics in 2002 by calling for a referendum against the then-leftist President Hugo Chávez.

Machado subsequently received death threats, and she sent her children to the United States.

Wondering how safe her children are in the US. Hiding there from ICE agents maybe...

Please stop pretending you are not a full blown Trump fan. Each post seems to show that more.

When did I ever say I was not a Trump fan?

I have said that there are things he says and does that I don't like, but I never said I was not a fan.

And I think the country and world is in much better shape than it would have been had Harris won the election.

No, not possible, his attitudes, lies and behaviors will prevent him winning.

And he didn't win, a lady from Venezuela has won, already announced.

and finally the truth came out, if the magies still had some doubts about their master allegiances and USA interests the answer, Zelensky has been trying telling the world the truth and even went to the WH but the 2 morons  sitting there instead of listening they insulted him, thus not a slightly doubt that he will not get the NP

Both Donald Trump and one of Vladimir Putin’s ministers have finally admitted to what the rest of the West has known for while: that their supposed friendship is not going to help end the Ukraine war any time soon.

Trump And Russia Finally Admit What The Rest Of The West Already Suspected

https://au.yahoo.com/news/trump-russia-finally-admit-rest-140448286.html

Remember Yasser Arafat got the peace prize for killing Jewa and Obama got it for being an black leftist.

The left would rather the war in Gaza went on for twenty years than to see Trump get any credit for ending it,

So it's the rival of Maduro who got the Nobel. Fine.

But why is Venezuela suffering ? Not only due to Maduro but due to the unacceptable sanctions imposed by the USA...and surprise...long before Trump came to power.

All the fuss mainly to cut out Venezuela's chep oil from the markets obviously. As when America puts sanctions on a country, no matter what people say, very strangely it's usually against nations who sell cheap energy and oil to the benefit of the rest of the world.

I may push the idea to even thing that if Maduro is Trump's ennemy, obviouslly the political bodies in Venezuela against Maduro, have US support. Geopolitics is a hypocritical game where nobody is any better or worse then Trump and al.
