Still can't get Brave's search engine working, that's a few weeks now. Cannot get into AN now, the wee circle just goes round and round. These mishaps only happen in Brave, Opera and Chrome are fine.

Did you follow the instructions/guide that I posted on your previous thread about it?

Have you looked in and maybe asked in the brave Community - https://community.brave.app/

 

or just save your Bookmarks and Passwords (if used) and nuke the install and reinstall....

 

On Win10 I have had no issues so not sure why you have them...........

Today I still can't get into AN from Brave, it is no problem with Opera. So brave must me 100% to blame.

If that is what you see when you go to the link I gave you (you tube vid) then you have a problem as you are being misdirected. Search for the Brave Community or brave forums on Opera and check the link separately. Something looks like it has highjacked your links and or Brave is completely corrupted...........

 

Use Brave, win 10, works fine for me.

I have now installed CCleaner browser just to check it out, like Brave does not accept AN. So Chrome, Edge and Opera accept AN, and CCleaner and Brave don't.

Computers??????????

I have tried your link, there is just so much to take in. Brave has been a great browser to me for years, even to someone like me who is no expert on computers, I should be able to get AN and use the search engine. It means I cannot work with Brave anymore without having to change browsers for the two things already mentioned. Again. Computers??????

I tried a new browser CCcleaner that one also refuses to go to AN so I can't see it being corrupted.

I use Brave with Windows 10, Linux Mint, Windows 11 & Android... Everything's fine !!!

It's worth noting that the OP has had a range of issues. Probably more than anyone else on this board. I've had to take it to PM to help them out sometimes. But as evidenced, the OP is the biggest barrier to their own progress.

Just keep in mind I have no one else to ask except on this forum, there are no farangs near me and the guy in my local store does not speak any English.

@NoshowJones Did you follow the guide that I posted for you in order to change the Search Engine in Brave? You made no comment and gave no feedback.

I made no comments because I now have problems signing in to AN. I have just managed this time. I have been through the guide to change the search engine in Brave and it still does not work. I really do appreciate your help. I just do not no what to do anymore.

Can you explain what you mean by it not working? You changed it from what to what?

 

 

There's definitely a huge issue with Cloudflare that is affecting people's ability to post, but that has nothing to do with any Search Engine. I'm beginning to think that you are mixing up your descriptions, wherein you actually just mean the Address bar, rather than Search Engine.

 

So I think what is happening is that you are being redirected constantly by Cloudflare implementation by the forum itself. Of course they say it's nothing to do with them...

No. Definitely the search engine, I have no idea what cloudflare is. I got a lot of help from CharlieH, he listed a few things that I went over but the search engine still does not work, but at least I can now get into AN. The address bar sometimes confuses me a bit, but the search engine certainly does not, I have to keep moving to Opera when I need to use the search engine. Thanks again for your help.

I learned to have several browsers installed in case one gives me problems.

 

I tried Midori and it works well with iHerb.com which I couldn't access with Brave.

It seems you get lots of problems with your computer...

 

In order to get rid of all of them, I'd recommend the following:

 

1. Back up the files you want to keep on an external disk

2. Do a fresh Windows 11 install (with a legit Win 11 version of course!)

3. Install the apps you need (get them from a reputable source) BUT ONLY the apps you DO need (eg: no need to have multiple browsers...)

4. Don't touch anyrhing AND DON'T TRY any new "interesting app"

5. If you really fancy to experiment "new things", use a DISTINCT machine for it (= the "Test Computer")

6, Once you're happy with your machine, put back the files you backed up.

7. Try to elevate your IT knowledge by reading IT books.

Why do you need a Search Engine to get into AN?

The Search Engine and the Address bar are in exactly the same place, so what EXACTLY are you doing and what happens to make you believe that it isn't working?

How does a search engine not working affect your ability to sign into AN?

Details, rather than just repeating the same words.

Did you change the the provider or not? Yes or no? From which to which?  What exactly happens when you initiate a search for something?

For example, what happens when you enter the word TEST into the address bar and then hit the enter key?

 

It doesn't make any sense that a Search Engine would refuse to give you aseannow as a result. You are going to have to leverage your English language skills in order to communicate exactly what happens at each stage.

@save the frogs If you wish to access iHerb with Brave, you'll need to disable the Block Scripts function at brave://settings/shields But I recommend that you leave that on, but add the website to the Allowed list here: brave://settings/content/javascript

I am able to get into AN now, but it has all changed and after lots of time experimenting with it I can now get into all the forums which I could not do before, but I have to do it in a very different way now.
