Trump - what took you so long ???

The coming release of the Hamas hostages will be a great moment and thank God for that !

Trump already bathes greedily in the joy of this event but it may be time to reflect . . . . . .

After all, Trump claimed the power to end the Ukraine conflict on Day 1 of his Presidency - if only. He never had that power - those were empty words from this habitual braggart. But Trump and the USA did have much MORE chance of affecting the Gaza situation quickly.

IMO the only reason that we now have some sort of fragile 'peace' agreement in Gaza is that Israel has already achieved all that it wanted. Trump has been played along and fooled yet again, (as with Putin).

1. Gaza's housing and infrastructure is comprehensively destroyed and the territory is so damaged it seems impossible for the Palestinians to sustain any kind of reasonable existence there in the future.

2. Under cover of the Gaza war, the stability of the West Bank has been systematically undermined by the Israeli military and the settlers.

3. It seems to have been accepted that the he 'two-state' solution will not be pursued.

I've been nauseated this weekend to see the UK media's obeisance to the braggart. Trump's 'achievement' is seen in the rubble of Gaza. Not to excuse Biden's part in this, but Trump is your Day 1 man !!!

So Donald - what took you so long !!

Agreed to a large extent. I do think though, that Israel wants Gaza, and they'll be disappointed. For the moment Gazans will stay and live there.

The grunts in the IDF had a far more important say in the ending of that conflict brought on by hammas than trumps texting from his potty. It sickens me as well when the privileged class come in to try and take credit for someone’s else’s courage and sacrifice.Be that as it may I hope all the hostages are released and the Palestinians people are fed.

Main issue with the agreement, is that nothing seems to have been set on how to govern Gaza. Hamas will be back in charge in days.

Hope not personally I’d like to see them rubbed out.I also suspect many of the Palestinians don’t have much use for them because they brought this apocalypse down on them!

Fully agree with that. The 'ceasefire' was agreed by Hamas, and to release remaining hostages, in order to get Israel from continuing its daily slaughter of Gaza's dwindling civilian population. Like you say, there is very little, if anything, left of what was Gaza city - home to hundreds of thousands of people. So Israel has pretty much completed the bombing and bulldozing of the place. This isn't over from Israel's perspective (or Trump's pro-Zionism's assistance) - together they will take over Gaza in one way or another. The world watched this genocide and did SFA because they're afraid of Trump - pathetic.

Biden’s ceasefire framework was already on the table in January, with most mediators — Egypt, Qatar, and the UN — aligned.

When Trump stepped in, Netanyahu played him — allowing Israel to decimate Gaza and kill more Palestinians.

Nothing says commitment to peace like relocating Gazans and rebranding a war zone as a golf destination — ‘Trump Resort Gaza’ — a tone-deaf bit of colonial cosplay that collapsed within weeks.

Back to reality — nine months after Biden’s framework was in place, Trump rolled out the same plan with his name slapped on it — a ceasefire built on more ashes and less humanity.

Ill go ahead and say what you are desperately trying to say, but for some reason are unable to come out with the words.

Thank you Donald Trump.

Better late than never or Biden starting more wars.

Trump... WINNING for hostages.

Hamas will rebuild and strenghen there ranks and will begin again attacking Israel. How many hostages are being returned ? 20. Part of the deal is the release of 250 Hamas murder's and butchers detained by Israel.

I,m watching the release live on Fox news. Lets see if Hamas behaves.

Dead men walking. Mossad is patient and accidents happen in life.

So what you're saying is that Trumps historic peace deal is actually all thanks to the hopeless and senile Biden? OMB it's a belter🤣😂😅

Let's hear what you propose to solve the matter, Barra.

Obama had 8 years to get us out of Afghanistan, he didn't even try. Yet hate him or love him, at least Trump tries, and has had a few successes.

Same as ISIS Infull they were never defeated so have been slowly regrouping again. You can never defeat ideology. Isis goal was to kill all infidels Hamas goal was to destroy the jewish race. Do you think they will stop ?

I asked Copilot (ChatGPT) about it.

Here's the reply:

Yes, Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan closely mirrors the framework proposed by Joe Biden during his presidency, though there are notable differences in execution, leverage, and political dynamics.

🧩 Key Similarities Between Trump and Biden's Plans
- Three-phase structure: Both plans follow a phased approach involving:
  - Phase 1: Ceasefire and hostage/prisoner exchange
  - Phase 2: Establishment of interim governance and security forces
  - Phase 3: Long-term reconstruction and regional stability
- Demilitarization of Gaza: Both plans call for Hamas to disarm and relinquish control over Gaza
- Transitional governance: Each plan envisions a technocratic Palestinian authority under international supervision
- International involvement: Biden’s plan included support from U.S. Central Command; Trump’s plan involves a “Board of Peace” chaired by Trump himself, with figures like Tony Blair

🔍 Key Differences in Approach and Impact
- Political leverage: Trump reportedly had more influence over Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, enabling stronger pressure for compliance
- Execution success: Biden’s ceasefire collapsed after 42 days, while Trump’s plan—though still unfolding—has achieved broader initial buy-in
- Domestic support: Trump’s Republican base gave him more room to maneuver diplomatically, whereas Biden faced internal divisions within the Democratic Party over Gaza policy
- Tone and style: Trump’s approach has been described as “brash and demanding,” while Biden’s was more cautious and consensus-driven

🧭 What Comes Next?
While Trump’s plan has gained traction, many analysts caution that key hurdles remain, including:
- Hamas’s refusal to fully disarm
- Unclear details about the interim security force
- Risks of renewed violence if phase transitions falter

I was wondering why the fact that Hamas stated it won't sign the peace deal got nearly unnoticed.

Luckily, it seems the first phase of the plan is going to be implemented. However, I'm not optimistic about later phases, as neither Hamas not Netanyahu have interest in it, and could well derail the peace process.

I’m also saying — Trump likely caused the war when he moved the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and ignored Palestine with his so-called historic Abraham Peace Accords — deals that brought ‘peace’ to no one actually at war.

And in so doing, he tore up decades of U.S. support for a two-state solution — how did that go?

He lit the fire — now he’s trying to put it out.

Battle of the Bots: ChatGPT-5 vs Copilot

Copilot paints Trump’s Gaza plan as bold and original — it wasn’t.

  1. ‘Trump’s Gaza peace plan closely mirrors Biden’s framework’ — TRUE
Biden’s January 2025 proposal already laid out the three-phase structure: ceasefire, interim administration, and reconstruction. Trump’s ‘20-point plan’ in October 2025 reused those same pillars — only rebranded and front-loaded with his name and self-appointed oversight (‘Board of Peace’). So yes — it mirrors Biden’s framework but adds Trump’s ego architecture.

  2. ‘Trump had more leverage over Netanyahu’ — MISLEADING
Trump didn’t pressure Netanyahu; Netanyahu played Trump. Every credible diplomatic brief — from Reuters, CSIS, and The Guardian — notes that Trump granted Israel wide latitude during negotiations: extended ‘security zones,’ looser withdrawal deadlines, and less accountability for civilian casualties. That’s not leverage; that’s indulgence.

  3. ‘Biden’s ceasefire collapsed after 42 days’ — PARTLY TRUE
Yes, Biden’s ceasefire faltered — but Israel broke it, not Biden. Biden’s plan relied on mutual compliance and third-party mediation. Once Trump re-entered, he didn’t restart diplomacy — he absorbed the existing framework and reset the branding clock.

  4. ‘Trump’s plan achieved broader initial buy-in’ — FALSE
There’s no evidence of broader international buy-in. Arab states like Qatar, Jordan, and Egypt publicly complained that Trump sidelined them, and the EU described his ‘Board of Peace’ as ‘unilateral.’ The buy-in Copilot mentioned likely refers to Israel’s agreement — which, again, was secured by letting Israel dictate the terms.

  5. ‘Execution success’ and ‘Board of Peace’ — RHETORICAL, not REAL
Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’ has no international legitimacy — it’s a political vanity construct, not a recognized authority. It’s analogous to his ‘Commission on Election Integrity’: a headline generator, not a functioning policy body.

Bottom line: Biden’s plan aimed for a negotiated ceasefire. Trump’s ‘plan’ was a repackaging of that same framework, minus the human rights safeguards and multilateral checks. He didn’t innovate a peace plan — he inherited Biden’s, stripped out accountability, and re-released it under his brand. The only thing new was the logo.

So funny reading all you lefties squirming and refusing to utter the words 'Thank you President Trump'....

The fact is, like him or hate him, Trump gets things done and he doesn't care if he upsets liberals and wokes on the way.  Wish we had a leader like him in the UK.
