A heavily intoxicated British man caused chaos in Pattaya, on the evening of October 16, 2025, after breaking into a local bar and attempting to harm his Thai brother-in-law. The man was struck on the head in self-defence, sustaining a head injury, before returning home to burn his wife’s clothes, which he filmed and shared via a video call.

The incident occurred in Soi Buakhao, Pattaya, where CCTV captured the man, identified as Mr. Ary aged 59, smashing the bar door with his shoulder and throwing a pool ball at bottles behind the bar. He then smashed a panel to open a door and climbed to the upper floor intending to confront his brother-in-law but was smashed in the head with an elbow, in a self defence move, causing significant bleeding.

After fleeing the scene, Mr. Ary returned home and set fire to his wife’s clothing, valued at tens of thousands of baht, while video-calling her and claiming, “I have burnt all your clothes, come home quickly!”

Emergency services were called by his wife, who was shocked by the event. Rescue workers arrived to find the man bleeding and initially refusing medical attention. Police officers had to persuade him before he agreed to be transported to Pattaya Bhattamakun Hospital for treatment.

The brother-in-law revealed that this was not the first violent incident, claiming the British man had previously offered 50,000 baht to have him attacked. The attempt was narrowly avoided when the intermediary alerted him beforehand. He urged police to expedite the investigation, expressing concern that the violence could escalate further if not addressed.

Police noted that the initial report from the wife had been treated as a domestic matter, but the reported violence has raised concerns about potential future incidents. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and the previous reports to determine the next steps, as investigations continue.

Charges will be filed against the British national and are expected to include criminal damage and assault. Investigators are also looking into whether additional security measures or protective orders are needed to prevent recurrence.

Key Takeaways

• A British man attacked a bar in Pattaya and was injured by his brother-in-law before burning his wife’s clothes.

• CCTV captured the incident, and emergency services intervened to provide medical care.

• The intended victim has called on police to take immediate action to prevent further attacks.

  • So he found out the Thai guy wasn't his wifes brother?

  • The Brit obviously did not appreciate to suddenly discover getting scammed by the wife and her brother maybe ? Of course it does not justify any form of violence.

  • Thais (both women and men) can be very treacherous - perhaps the most brazen criminals I’ve ever met. Especially those men — scoundrels willing to live off a woman who is deceiving her loving husband.

I love it when this happens.

When will these bad boys learn???

When?

They will never grow up.

Too much alcohol.

Too much testosterone.

Very bad mix.....

Such a bad boy.

He will learn to regret his behavior.

Bad idea to do such a thing as a guest in a foreign country.

Thankfully, there is a video of this which will be very helpful to him, in reminding him, in the future, what NOT to do.

Those who become aggressive while drinking alcohol, should refrain from imbibing.

Simple as that.

All's well that ends well. Seen a few angry tough guys put in their place (on the ground) lately. Perhaps deportation should be added to deter the behaviour.

Practically need to check the birth certificate when your Thai bargirl wife introduces you to her alleged brother. Sorry, I don't believe you. Let's see the papers.

Need to find someone closer to your age to avoid this. Guys are grabbing girls 30 years younger and 10 times hotter than them. They never wanted to be with you.

That Brits behave like less educated morons in Thailand, is an almost daily occurrence. Something that needs to be addressed instead of protected by unconfirmed stories.

Would be easy to fix: raise visa long term visa requirements, close 80% of the bars. and massage parlours.

And then Thailand goes bankrupt.

There's not enough industries besides bars to keep everyone employed.

You're fired!

Recently saw a movie called Clean Slate (it's French, Coup de torchon) with the same "wife's brother" thing, seems everyone knows what's going on but the punter.

Pretty movie, by the way.

Thais (both women and men) can be very treacherous - perhaps the most brazen criminals I’ve ever met. Especially those men — scoundrels willing to live off a woman who is deceiving her loving husband. This is something that should always be reminded to the naïve fools in rose-colored glasses who are ready to glorify everything Thai as if it were heaven.

Look at their house book, has the parents names in it.

Obviously more to this story than just another drunken Brit.

You have an overinflated ego. Quality tourism can easily compensate the loss of a few cheap charly punters.

For retirees LTR is the way to go.

Again a Brit.

I'm sorry to say but in most of these incidents here on AN Brits are involved.

I feel pity for all the nice and behaving ones.
