Burnley secured an immediate return to the Premier League by beating QPR.The Clarets began the game at Turf Moor knowing a win would be enough to confirm a top-two finish afterBrighton drew 1-1 with Derby earlier in the day.

Sean Dyche's side are only two points clear of Middlesbrough and Brighton, but cannot be overhauled by both as they face each other on the final day. While Boro and Brighton fight for the remaining automatic promotion spot on Saturday, Burnley will be crowned champions if they win at relegated Charlton.

Victory over QPR extended Burnley's unbeaten run in the league to 22 games, the longest sequence in the division this season, with their last Championship defeat coming at Hull on 26 December.

Consistency of selection is one of manager Dyche's biggest traits and he has followed that policy again in 2015-16, using only 25 players in the Championship this season.

Like Sean Dyche a lot. Pleased to see Burnley promoted.

Me too and I'm a Brentford fan

So unless something drastic happens on the last day, we'll be talking about Villa, Norwich and Newcastle here next year then.

Barton was named Burnley's player of the year after helping them gain promotion to the Premier League.

Rangers have made a move to sign Burnley midfielder Joey Barton on a free transfer this summer. The 33-year-old was shown round the club's Auchenhowie training ground on Saturday. Talks will continue and a deal could be imminent.

Barton was named in the Championship team of the season as Burnley secured the title.

Think he'll struggle in the Premier; another Championship team or Scotland might be better for him.

Rochdale have renamed Spotland:- http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rochdale-rename-spotland-part-new-11719694

Rochdale Football Club have renamed their ground the Crown Oil Arena as part of a new six-figure sponsorship deal.

The biggest deal in the club’s history will also see them bear the name of the Bury-based fuel company on their shirts.

They follow neighbours Oldham and Bury in selling naming rights to raise much- needed cash.

The club secured full ownership of the ground again in March after shares in the company that owned and managed it were transferred to them.

Also, Manchester United have released Oliver Rathbone and he has joined Rochdale on a 1 year deal. Blimey, Uniteds academy are pumping out some stars.

Well that was bladdy close. Last game of the season and Rochdale needed nothing less than 3 points against Charlton who are in the play-offs but also had to rely on Oldham not winning. Rochdale managed a 1-0 win over Charlton whilst Oldham could only draw against Northampton. Rochdale stay up and their neighbours Oldham (and Bury) go down

Tbey were sure enough to sack Paul Heckingbottom after just 4 months in the job.

They say they want someone with experience, so if not Bielsa some other old timer. Plenty knocking about.

Bolton players have gone on strike because their June wages have not been paid. This is not the first time wages haven't been paid when due. The first pre-season friendly of the season at St Mirren today has been cancelled.

No word yet from chairman Ken Anderson, who announced this week that he was looking for investors. He doesn't seem to have found any.

RIP Kevin Beattie. That team put six past Man Utd if I recall correctly ... and Bolton did the double over Man Utd too. City were sh**e as well. The good old days.

Yes, Cloughie was the best, when with Peter Taylor.

If Tisdale gets MK to the Prem he can stop buying his clothes from Oxfam.

Sad state of affairs at Bury. Read all about their problems and still can't get my head around it. Bury are blaming the authorities.

Well played Salford though.
