Must be the first head of the Church of England for quite a few hundred years after Henry 8th told the Pope to bugger off.

King Charles is a silly old duffer who wanted to be a tampon so that he could fit inside Camilla; then when he was giving a speech on his 60th birthday he referred to the Queen as "Mummy" – – yes 60 year old (or was it 65) man referring to his mother as mummy and it did result in a few laughs in amongst the audience, yet he couldn't see it!

And now he's off to the Vatican to meet the Pope to pray and talk to an imaginary being in the sky.

King Charles is a buffoon who has let his country go to the dogs.  He is not my king.....

I'm guessing that the pre-coronation King Charles said that he'd like to abdicate in favour of his sister, Princess Anne, and she replied "i'll have you killed first, and then Andrew will be King", and it was all resolved for the good of the country.

I don't follow the royalty at all, but based on a few documentaries, I'd have liked to meet Anne over a coffee.  And Elizabeth and William x Kate.  Not so keen on meeting the others, though I'm sure they're perfectly nice people.

For all that Charles is King, Anne is the late Queen's eldest daughter and the patron of  the Scottish Rugby Football Union, and a down to earth sort, like her parents.  Luckily, she can concentrate on the SRU - we need all the help we can get.  Her wee boy played for scottiish Schools, and Exeter University rugby league, if my memory serves me well.

Yes, Anne, besides the Queen, was the one of the Royal Family I had the most respect for (when I still cared about royalty).

We should all care about royalty -our Kings and Queens are one of our last lines of defence against those who would be king, as we are seeing the devolved colonies suffering now.

 

The monarch has power and authority when democracy goes wrong, but they can only use that power in desoerate circumstances with the backing of the people AND the institutions.

My home country is not a monarchy, nor do I currently live in one.

Do I still think that monarchy beats a presidential republic, yes, but not interested in royal family gossip anymore...

A commendable attitude; our monarch can be a great source of celebrity tatle, but they have two jobs to do:

- provide commendation in normal life
- stand up to dictatorship when democracy suddenly fails us.
When demracy sudeenly fails, I think thatany country would be wishing that they had a crown that the people and the armed forces could support
