October 25, 2025Oct 25 I think it's a pretty serious problem, but maybe someone has found themselves in the same situation: I take half a pill of Exforge 5/160 a day. I forgot to buy a new box of pills, and now, for the next three days, I'll be in the middle of nowhere. I've already checked, and the best I can find is amlodipine 5 mg (one of the two ingredients). My question: could taking only amlodipine for three days be dangerous?

October 25, 2025Oct 25 Your medicine is a mix of 2, which works better than any one of them alone. You could take just Amlodipine or Valsartan if you can find it, or you could take Dafiro, which I believe is exactly the same, just from another company. It would still work, just be a bit less effective than what you are taking.
October 25, 2025Oct 25 It would be better if you could take both amlodopine 5mg and Valsartan 160 mg. If you cannot find Valsartan, amlodopine alone is better than nothing.

October 25, 2025Oct 25 Amlodipine destroys your gums if you take it long term ,30 years of use has destroyed my gums
October 25, 2025Oct 25 Gingival enlargement is one of the side effects associated with certain drugs. Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, used as antihypertensive drug has been found associated with gingival hyperplasia.
October 25, 2025Oct 25 You might try to take Losartan 100mg (easier to find) instead of valsartan 160mg. This is not what the guidelines say, so nobody will recommend this. But the guidelines are not written for people in the middle of nowhere. BTW you can find valsartan probably in every provincial capital, but you have to know which pharmacy. Ask a local.

Ask a local Most cities, even remote ones will have some sort of Government hospital. One can usually find a fairly comprehensive pharmacy somewhere close by, usually within sight of the main entrance.
