UK Passport Replacement

I've used Key Visa twice now to renew my UK passport. They are adjacent to Big-C South Pattaya on the side (road at the top) that can be accessed via South Pattaya Road or Sukhumvit Road.

They charge 12,500bht and do everything for you. Just take your existing passport and 2 photos. You'll get emails from the courier companies with tracking details all the way through the process. Takes around 4-6 weeks. Key Visa will call you when they've got your new passport and then you just go along and collect it. Very easy.

Are there any photographers near their office who can produce photos which comply fully with HMPO's over-fussy requirements? That is often the most difficult part of the whole renewal process for many, but, unfortunately, most agents seem unable to provide any assistance in this regard.

Agreed.  Paul Aslett at ThaiVisaExpress offers a superb service, for Pattaya people.

I recommend MyThaiVisa.   They handle everything, including filling in the application form. All I did was sign 2 forms, give them my photos, and a phone bill to show my address in Thaialand

I had photos done actually at the Tower, they were rejected.....😂

Luckily, I had ones done back home, which I handed over and were excepted....🙄

I have done a few passports for folk by mail, form filling, never a photo problem....🤗

VFS don't mail replacement passports to you, that is true, but surely any agent worth their salt would?

He hasn't replied to my question....but the answer is that ANY appointed third party can collect and post the passport for you.

I did the VHS thing years back, 4 flights, taxis, expenses, never again.

Paid 5000bht for someone to do all the legwork all done by EMS post, they even do all the PP page copying, so for me, a no-brainer....🤗

I could have saved you 500 Baht... 😉

$400 for a $130 Passport??  - You can do it yourself with little or no effort, I did mine.

"Little or no effort"?

You clearly have never lived in the boonies, had a disability - or just been old or simply can't be ar5ed.

Apply online, pay online and book appointment. Wake up at 6 am, cup of coffee, drive to Durham, attend passport office at appointed time, all done in 20 minutes (2 passports), grab breakfast, go have a walk around the Cathedral, bar lunch, go back to the office at appointed time, collect passports, all done in 5 minutes, drive home, well in time for beer at the pub before supper.

Above was a recent, same-day passport renewal at Durham PO, and posted for "effort" comparisons only.

Personally I have twice ordered new UK passports by applying directly to VFS, Bangkok. No hassle, no issues, no agent.

And how far from Bangkok do you live.

I live half of my time in Bangkok so easy for me. I appreciate less easy for others.

Never an issue with Track & Trace EMS, yet.....😁

So if you lived full time in say Ubon what would you do for passport renewal.

I have no idea which is why I said for others it would be less easy than for myself.

Ok if you live in the vicinity of Bangkok, I live in Pattaya 2 return trios to VFS Global, one to drop the documents of then another to pick the new passport up both trips either by bus, taxi or train, I don’t drive.

I wouldn’t tempt, if your passport goes missing you I believe have to return to the U.K. for new one.

Thailand is a known hub for the illegal trade and forgery of travel documents. Stolen passports from tourists often end up in the hands of crime syndicates there

Weeeell, with Track & Trace, folk are responsible for every step of the way, you know where your item is via your PC at all times.

Even VFS stuff has to be transported, both here and in the UK....🤗

Did the 12,500 baht include the new passport? or separate circ £150?

No.  You can apply from Thailand if lost or stolen.  The only addition is that you must have it cancelled before applying.

A new UK passport is B5000 (118 quid), a few bus trips if you are in Pattaya and save yourself B7000, that's the way I will do mine at the end of November, might even have a night out in Bangkok

Yes it's easy doing it yourself i just did it, get the prep right before you go, i got the extra pages which cost £156.

One of the advantages of no agent is you get to keep your precious passport

But  (as previously posted) a third party can collect the new passport and EMS it to you,

That is what I arranged with One Vasco.

Only if you know some in Bangkok who you write a letter of permission and they take I’d with them.

Tracks the package, not the contents.
