Is there even any decent nightlife left in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

So you’ve got a mate coming into town, he’s been around Asia longer than most, and you want to take him out for a few drinks, maybe a bit of food, a place with some atmosphere, perhaps some eye candy floating around, but at the same time something classy. I don’t want to take him into the belly of the beast. That scene feels so finished and downtrodden, but I’m wondering if there’s anything else left that’s still decent at all. Where would one go these days?

why does it have to be "classy"? to delude yourself that you're not partaking in something sleazy?

Goodluck.  The entire nightspot areas are way past their prime. I see Nothing classy left.

Thonglor has clubs like this. Sorry, don’t remember where I went, do a search.

About $100 ahead all in, but real stunners, bottle, service, etc

On the budget plan, try the very friendly Hilary three on soil 11

You are probably better off asking Thai people rather than members of this forum.

Good luck with your date.

Also Ekhamai. There's one there called Sherbert and the girls are 12 out of 10. Pretty expensive though as you have to buy a bottle before the girls will sit with you but much more up-market than the likes of Soi 4.

Back in the eighties and early nineties Bangkok had hotel bars. You could eat, drink, watch women, and not have to pay for a hook up. Just hang out, laugh with a mate who's popped into town. Many had live bands or a DJ. Erawan Hotel’s underground bar was a scene. That’s what classy meant. Not expensive hostess bars being suggested here where you pay women to sit and drink with you. That is no fun. It's nonsense for Asian men.

Don't you start with the 80' 90' memories and i'll start crying, Never to come back again,

Once upon a time in BKK there were many bars
Where we used to raise a glass or two and many more,
Remember how we laughed away the hours
Think of all the great things we would do?

Yeah pick a young chick pay the

bar fine and take her home with us.

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way

Better come to Chiang Mai, some of the best bars in Thailand are here, I'm talking classy bars with Brazilian Jazz and cocktails, not ladymeat.

Soi 33 RIP

That used to be a fun soi.

Like much of the BKK nightlife scene, the fun has mostly gone to be replaced with a very transactional vibe.

He'll have to travel back in time to enjoy a trip there.

Yeah, Suk Soi 11 still hits the sweet spot.

Start the night at Oskar Bistro — good food, solid drinks, and a nice mix of people without the sleaze factor. Then wander over to Havana Social if you want a speakeasy vibe, or Hemingway’s for something a bit calmer.

When things pick up, Levels is right across the road — good crowd, solid music, and not full of backpackers. Or try Aces down at the Ambassador — newer club, polished setup, and a good crowd without the chaos.

If you’re still going after that, Above Eleven has killer rooftop views to wind down.

Still one of the few streets in Bangkok where you can make a full night of it without ever needing a taxi.

Imagine being so tragically desperate and misguided that you’d take advice from Harrisfap on travel, nightlife, or anything remotely related to real life. His idea of adventure is microwaving frozen pizza rolls at 2 a.m. in his mum's basement while surfing Pornhub and lecturing strangers online about countries he’s never even set foot in. He bangs on about the world like a blindfolded parrot describing the Mona Lisa. 😂🤣😂
