Changing Renewal Date of Visa Extension

Featured Replies

My current visa extension renewal date falls at the end of June, this creates problems when wanting to visit family in Europe during the summer months.
So I was curious as to whether it's possible to change the date of renewal and how to go about doing that?

Let it expire or exit with no re-entry permit and it'll expire automatically.  Restart with a new visa at a time of your choice.

Exactly as above.  Before returning from Europe get a non-O evisa and you can then extend at the end of the 90 days entry.  The process of a new extension is hardly any different from an ongoing one.

That's got nothing to do with the question I asked! I know all my options for getting a new visa and starting al over again.

You can get your new extension 30-45 days before expiry; it depends on your Immigration office.

How about a visit to immigration and ask?

Yes

Being married to Thai national you could apply for 60 day extension to visit wife.

That would push your extension date out.

All depends on travel dates.

You would need to obtain a reentry permit.

Getting a new visa and starting again is precisely how you change the future renewal date.

Why the attitude.

The couple of guys that suggested start over gave very sound valid suggestion.

In fact only reason I didn't suggest that was, treetops already had.

If... "I know all my options..... " Why start a thread.

Were you aware of 60 day extension.

Short answer, no, it is not possible to change the expiry date.

Next time you renew, don't buy a re-entry permit.  Any time during the extension, exit and return to set a new expiration date.

I am in exactly the same position....mine is 19th June and I depart every year in April or May.

I am going to let my extension lapse and when I return it will be on a new Non-Imm 'O' from which I will do a 12 month extension in September.

I had previously used an agent in Pattaya to renew 3 months early the maximum they can do) but that still leaves me with the unsatisfactory expiry date in June.

Good solution and the one suggested by couple of posters.

Good idea also to obtain the Non O eVisa outside of Thailand rather than return visa exempt and obtain Non O in Thailand.

Indeed....... and thank you for that earlier advice. I was going to return visa exempt but your advice convinced me to get the Non O in the UK 🙏

Yes, considered that option but its a use it and lose it option and it would mean visa renewal would fall in August, still in the summer period.

Try reading the full context of my reply instead of selective phrase picking; I said I know all my options regarding a new visa! But my original question was in respect to the options of changing the renewal date of my visa extension, but same as most threads on here it doesn't take long to go off topic.

You have two options expert.

1. You obtain 60 day extension which apparently you are aware of, however doesn't help with your particular dates.

2.  Start over and again are aware of however you are not interested in that option.

So you bag the guys suggesting the one option that works.

Start Over.

BTW: Topic didn't go off topic.

You had good advice from couple of switched on posters.

There's one other option, but it's not really an option, just a happenstance.

If you apply for the 1-year extension and your passport is not valid for the full year, your extension will only be until the expiration date of your passport.  You would have to be lucky enough for your passport expiration date to be soon, and to fall during a time of year that this would be beneficial to you.  Starting over would be much easier and you can choose your own date at that point.

Of course it has, outcome is exactly what you want, done it many times.

There is no such thing as "starting all over again",  just the same procedure and you get a free 90 day thrown  in.

For some strange reason some seem to think that  preserving an extension means something, it doesn't. What does mean something is renewing at a time that suits.

Your posts are nonsense.

"Starting over again " Refers to obtaining a NEW non O.

That can be done outside of Thailand via eVisa platform or within Thailand from a visa exempt or tourist visa entry.

Would use a TM87 or TM86 respectively.

if possible, you could change the reason for the yearly extension from Married to retirement or retirement to married, the new visa would start from date of application , not date of expiry of current visa,

op why the attitude, posters are only trying to be helpful

I once got an extension renewed 40 days early at Udon Thani. That was after being told "cannot" by a desk jockey who was overruled by the boss who happened to walk past in his civies as it was 3:30 pm already and he wanted to shut the shop. He saw I was the last customer, stopped and and asked the desk jockey what I was seeking. When told, he just said, "Do it" and it was done in 5 minutes.

YMMV

Long answer, yes  you can. Next renewal just put 180 day extension(or whatever meets your needs) instead of 1 year. I looked into this when I wanted to change my renewal date from January to June-September due to the long lineups at immigration during high season. I didn't proceed as I acquired a DTV visa instead.

I made the statement

"There is no such thing as "starting all over again",  just the same procedure and you get a free 90 day thrown  in."

This  was in response to a poster that had  queried an extension and  indicated a reluctance to get new visa.

My reply indicated there was little difference between extending a new visa or renewing an existing extension, it is the same procedure.

Unfortunately there are always those that want to distort the context.

Yes, the TM.7 has that field...

I hereby apply for extension period of temporary stay in the Kingdom for……………days.

So presumably you could enter any number of days, up to/including 365. No clue if every immigration office would accommodate variations?

Agreed. But you ought to have been clearer in the original question that you didn't want to leave the country. An overseas trip is the most obvious option to change your extension date.
