Non Immigrant (O) Visa Processing Times

Featured Replies

I applied for a 90 day single entry visa on 14 October, online.     The documents were approved at least two weeks ago, but the visa is STILL not approved.      I'm travelling in under 2 weeks.

What is normal for a processing time these days ?
Should I expect them to pull their finger out and actually approve it before my declared travel date ?

I would try send the relevant consulate an email.  That seemed to help expedite things when I had the same problem/concern.

I think it depends on where you apply, I see on a website they were quoting 15 days, but in Laos (Savannakhet) it took 4 days in total...☺️

Thank you.    I e-mailed the embassy in London & got:    "Your message couldn't be delivered to [email protected]. Their inbox is full, or it's getting too much mail right now".

No surprise that their inbox is full, if they are not processing visas in a reasonable timescale.    I am trying another e-mail address.

I'm not sure if it was UK but were getting similar complaints re being approved in last days prior to flight.

Very stressful.

Your fall back option would be to enter Thailand visa exempt.

My non-o took about 4-5 weeks but that included resubmitting some docos. Had given up hope , but got it eventually . Sent them an email which seemed to move things along a bit .I wonder if the visa would still be usable if you entered ve. ?

I am in the process of applying for a Non Imm O 90 day retirement on the Thaievisa website while I am still home in the USA.  It has been 3 days so far and today I got a document request to submit the last three months of bank statements showing my Social Security (SSA) Deposits.  I could NOT find a way to submit three documents.  I could not select three and drag them.  If I selected one and added it, I could not select any others.  So I merged the three months of statements into one file using the free online PDF Adobe merge website and then I edited/replaced that onto the thaievisa site.  Note I could not see a way to delete a file once I had started adding it.  I could only edit and then select a new file.  I used adobe basic to underline the SSA transacations and put a comment next to each one.  So far I guess this is going OK.  Curiously I can not seem to review my application or download it.  I thought I used to be able to go back in and edit things but I guess you can only change things at the beginning before you submit the appllication.  That makes sense as otherwise one could be changing things already reviewed.  My expected travel dates are December 7 give or take so I think I left enough time.

Friend received his Non O (Thai spouse) from London 3 weeks ago.
Took 10 business days, 15 days in total.

Just check if this the email address from the embassy website works : visa.lon[at]mfa.go.th

That worked.    The reply says "Thank you for your email. We apologise for the delays. Your documents are currently under review. Due to an unprecedented volume of applications, the process has taken longer than usual. We would like to ask for your patience during this time. We have taken note of your concern and will raise this with the Approval Team, although we cannot confirm when you will receive your visa outcome."

I presume that's a standard e-mail, as their website actually says the document review is complete.
Also, where would the "unprecedented volume of applications" be from ? Visitor numbers to Thailand in 2025 are down. They're hardly encouraging tourism by sitting on visa applications for weeks.

That email was similar ,but not identical to the one I got . When the site says "pending approval ",you can be fairly confident of getting the visa in the next few days. There was a mini series on UK TV about how attractive life was here in th, which got a lot of publicity. That ,combined with the new dtv has maybe resulted in a flood of new applications.

As I posted earlier I applied November 3 from the USA on the Evisa website.  three days later I got an email asking for one document update they wanted my last three monthly bank statements and to highlight my social security benefits that were paid to me.  I sent back the bank statements with the SSA payments to me underlined.  I got an email on November 7 with the appproved Visa.  The email is pretty short, has my name , birth date, the visa number and days and dates of validity.  So all in all the process took about one week.  I am a Florida USA resident so the embassy that processed it apparently was the washington DC..  Very fast service in my opinion.  I guess I just print out the email, send copies to my phone, etc.

I paid the $80  USD fee using my credit card and the first time the payment was rejected and my credit card company sent me a text message to confirm the payment was proper.  I replied yes and the credit card next text said apply payment again , and I did and the payment went through.

It's worth a try, but their reputation in that department is pretty poor also.

I had the same problem in the UK and got the same email responses. I had booked one way to BKK with Emirates and my flight time arrived with no approval but all docs checked and passed. So I booked a trip to Vietnam as a precaution which I could easily cancel. At check in they did ask about the one way ticket and I told them about my Vietnam ticket and all was ok. I got to Dubai airport and my NON O came up approved. What a relief 😅

I applied on 4th November got approved yesterday ,in uk .Maybe there is an issue with your documents that you submitted or something else

Yeah that sucks

Personally I hate all this automated service crap.  It can't be trusted and gives people an excuse by saying sorry we did ot giet it must have been a machine error.

4 working days for me

My advise to anyone who does apply-

Take a few hours to ensure all the paperwork is there and in order. Start with a covering note oneach pdf file explaining what is there for EACH section and explain any discrepencies.

yes and give any files a good descriptive name.  I had to attach my last three bank statements with my Social Security benefit payments in each month underlined in the document so I used those words in the document title to help them.

As for the airplane flights I think somebody had an issue with,I think the poster here was trying to do one way to Thailand which would make sense if one was intending to stay , but I am not definite on staying and intending to extend.  I had not booked my flights yet when I submitted the application,  I was not going to book them until I was sure I had the Visa.  On the application I just listed flights that I was likely to book and that matched my visa times.  (Roundtrip for now) as I am a bit away from actually deciding on doing the one year extension after the 90 day initial visa period.

same for Thailand place to stay.  I did not book anything yet.  I just put down a place with all the address information I was intending to stay at.  No proof of reservation for flights or hotel was asked for .

Any recent experiences from Vientiane? Are there any ways to speed it up? Kinda tough spending weeks outside as a single parent..

Reports of quick process time in Laos for eVisa.

Where did "weeks" come from.

Most likely few days.

Later in the day after the e-mail I referred to above, the visa came through.   I suspect that's more than a coincidence.

Yes, that happened to me flying from Canada. I had to enter visa exempt while waiting for my non-imm. It worked out ok.
