Stocks Roar Back on Optimism for Shutdown Deal

The Nasdaq composite paces the major indexes; ‘It’s a tech and AI recovery day’

Investors are feeling bullish again.

Reports that Congress was closing in on a deal to reopen the government sparked a rally in tech stocks and other riskier trades, and gave investors hope that federal officials would soon roll out key economic-data reports that had been suspended by the shutdown.

Stocks are an indicator of the wealth of the top 10%.  Not the general population who are getting creamed by inflation.

Wall Street isn't Main Street as they say.

Stock market is a scam.

Goes up and down for all sorts of unpredictable reasons.

And people blame the president when it goes down. Maybe sometimes it has 2% sth to do with the president.

All fine and good. The world is waching. The AI guys will SOON have to show that AI is also producing hefty profits. (Not only NVIDIA).

If that should not materialise.............run for the hills.

At this point one might add: The top 10% own 50% of all assets.

Yes, plus another 100 reasons. Nobody would go to work anymore if all we had to do is following "profit forecasts" to accumulate income/wealth.

Interest rates, the economical cycle we are in, the Govenment and it's goals, geo political developements, what stocks are "fashinable" at the moment, "chart followers" that dominate intra-day trading, is your neighbor buying or selling stock, what is Donald Trumps mood today, how much time is left, before China is established as the new "super power", what we do without the "rare earths" of China, how fast can we train Appalachian Hillbillies to become AI experts etc etc etc etc etc

Thats all nonsense. Over 1 to 20 years only profits drive stocks. Apple only did well cause profits did.

News is only short term.

I suppose you are too young to have experienced the "internet bubble" in the early 2000ends.

Those companies had no profits :cheesy:

Hype stocks always crash.

Only EPS growth drives stock in the long run.

Nor do the AI companies (so far).

- How are you getting along with your "candlestick approach". Referring to your question in another sub-forum. Of course, a technical "candlestick-approach" will not help when it comes to "profit forecasts".

Short term trading

Short term trading

I understand. You may invest 50% of your assets in "long term" proposals and the rest in "trading opportunities". My ratio is 80 to 20 in favor of "long term stuff". The 20% share is for "spice", keeping me "alert" in old age, but it never made me rich, but still loving the game.

My online platform is very honest, claiming that 76% of short term traders are losing money, year after year.

Have done some research. It seems that classic chart patterns that have worked quite well in the past, are now used to "run the stops" and run the "buy orders". A new business concept has evolved, making classical "chart analisys" useless in the short term. Turning every buy/sell signal into a potential "short-term-trap".

Similar observations on your part?
