Thailand to Lift 2–5pm Alcohol Ban to Boost Sales, Deputy PM

Heineken 0.0 is virtually zero alcohol, containing a maximum of 0.03% alcohol by volume (ABV). It is not 100% alcohol-free in the strictest sense, but this trace amount is comparable to or lower than the levels found in some common food products like bread, bakery items, or fruit juices, due to natural fermentation of ingredients.

So using 7/11 logic it also means they can not sell bread etc between 2 to 5pm. 🤣

Dont bring logic into it,

Because some government officials' misconduct has led to the entire population of the country and their guests being penalized?

  • Will someone tell 7/11 that they can sell Heineken zero at anytime, It's none alcoholic, but no they wont have it,

Troll post breaking forum rules removed.

@Toby1947 rule 14. You will not post slurs, degrading, or overly negative comments directed towards Thailand, Thai people, Thai culture, Thai institutions such as the military, judicial or law enforcement system, or specific locations within Thailand.

Never wanting to be one who assumes - will this include 7/11's, Lotus, Big C, etc.?

I think that the stores you mention are the ones that it is most likely to affect - nowhere else seemed to bother anyway ( Thai shops mostly)

Yes, like the fiasco leading to alcohol being banned on the trains due to one of their employees' hideous behaviour.

About time. it is 2025!

Common sense at last.

Therefore an after midnight ban would be more detrimental. An official 2-5 ban doesn't hurt tourism, an after midnight ban will.

It will hurt tourism if/when they fine one of them who's making a living on social media, for drinking beer during the afternoon curfew. I think the term is 'viral'?

I thought they were enforcing the ban last week?

That was last weeks news, I'll wait until next week to see what really happens

I'll believe it when it gets published in the gazette.  They have changed their minds on this twice in the last week.

If government officials were drinking while working at government offices, then a simple 0ne warning only would have been far more efficient, with a further episode resulting in dismissal!

Why should the entire nation be penalised because of one specific group.

It looks like a set of rudimentary 'AND" and 'NAND' gates.

I know some Thais who could easily follow this noddy level of logical proof.

They were drinking in restaurants on extended lunch breaks, that was the problem.

A remarkably intelligent decision, I hope it spreads through country

Absurd argument when the thread is about lifting the 2-5 ban and I've now mentioned Big C and 711 multiple times. Apart from that there is one wholesaler near me and they only have Chang Beer and Thai spirits. You arguing that I shoud go to a wholesaler is ridiculous.

The bottom line is people would rather whinge like children than look for solutions.

Every country in the world has their own way of doing things and it up to migrants and tourists to acknowledge that, whether they like it or not.

Unfortunately this forum has deteriorated into a  platform for venting anti Thai sentiment.

Solution is easy. Scrap the arcane law.

Plenty of Thais didn't like the ban either.  So, nothing to do with anti thai sentiment and also people will call out nonsense whether it's In Thailand, China, UK, Oz, etc, etc. .  It seems you're the one making it about anti thai

Don't you think people should read what is said before distorting the context.
