He started it champ. Same as you. Both KWs that dish it out but can't take it back. Good posters just discuss the topic.

It was a big gift item when I lived in Appalachia. Among the expensive ones, I liked the high-end versions of wild turkey, and four roses, which is probably the best bourbon I ever drank.

I don’t usually buy celebrity products, but Willie Nelson‘s whiskey River was the second best bourbon I ever drank.

On the low end, you cannot beat the redneck pour of choice, George Dickel. There is some petty distinction That means that Jack Daniels is not technically a bourbon.

Consider the beautifully labeled Rebel Yell, which inspired 1 million bad karaoke attempts, including a fair few of my own. Very drinkable.

In Appalachia, the Baptists poured it into iced tea. That cocktail goes by the name of sneaky tea.

Never get between a Baptist and a pitcher of sneaky tea.

Anyone tried 1792 bourbon or Angel's Envy?

Alcohol is bad for your health.

Canadian Club

Do not drink whiskey anymore, but I had my love for Schotch single malt whiskey. Drinking liquor is like exercising you muscles, you need to be in shape to handle the good stuff.

I think it have to be soon a year ago since I had any liquor at all. Not good for old people

I agree, I gave up whiskey and beer years ago, and just have a couple of red wines at night.

Love Bourbon sipped neat.

They have a good selection in Thailand actually although I have not had 1792 or Angels Envy...yet

Some good ones I have had here are

Maker's Mark original & 46 French Oaked

Woodford Reserve original & Double Oaked which is an  awesome chocolate bomb

Buffalo Trace...always good

Wild Turkey 101 8 year very nice

Bulleit Bourbon good high rye peppery

There are many more here too that I have yet to try like Russell's Reserve, Knob Creek,

But yes prices are a bit high due to import taxes etc but worth it 😉

I like Woodford Reserve (standard, 2,159/75 cl), usually keep a bottle handy, along with a single-malt.

I do, I used to love it, but only drink Jim Beam bc of price as I drink too much. About a year back I got sick of the sweetness and went back to scotch.

Beam was a good value as well but alcohol mafia put the price up another b100. Naw...

I highly recommend Grant's whisky at its price point 600/70cl. Only scotch whisky not polluted with grain spirits and other shi+ whisky.

Another good reason to drink bourbon here is it's not polluted with grain spirits. Most scotch is entirely compromised these days. I think what is sold in Thailand they add even MORE grain spirits .... it doesn't even taste like scotch

drank lots of jim beam, jack daniels, wild turkey in my younger days, even tried 4 roses as well as a few other not well known brands, makers mark was not around back then but I did try it a few times, not bad  then I gave bourbon up completely. Only drink the occasional beer these days, have lots of bottles of vodka, gin,  baileys etc in the cupboard as well as some well aged wine for guests/cooking  and will join them at  times but dont enjoy drinking as much as I used too

In this cold weather, I'd prefer dark rum or port.....:coffee1:

Can you readily get Port here? I haven't looked to be honest but with Christmas approaching....

I do like a nice glass of port. A good shot in a pint of Guinness is also a delight but would cost an arm and a leg here. Shot of port topped up with Sprite for the Mrs.

I assume any good wine stockist would be the best bet?

To be honest I haven't looked yet, I was hoping Makro would sell it, was thinking about it last night while drinking cold beer, so maybe Rum will be my go for if not.

We’ve had a bottle of bourbon sitting on our kitchen shelve since last New Year that our son-in-law brought , just had a tot just now , still tastes horrible at first , but with a pleasant aftertaste of cinnamon I think.

Think I've only had Jack Daniels, and not a fan of.

Same for me, but I also tried Makers Mark and liked that.

I've tried a few, generally okay with them.  I prefer Japanese whiskies.  Did a tour round the Nikka Distillery in Yoichi (Hokkaido) last year, they've got a pretty good range.

Despite the stylish bottle, I found Angel's Envy to be thin and underwhelming, especially given the price. Widow Jane 14 year old is the bottle I hide from guests, reserved for special sunsets on my balcony.  I will share Woodfords Reserve, Jefferson's, Bardstown and Heaven Hill with guests as long as they don't ask what mixers I have.  Those people get the Early Times.  For me, for just casual sipping, Evan Williams is hard to beat.

We used to buy that by the bottle in a bar on BKK soi 11. The guy who owned it, a policeman, kept the bottle behind the bar for us and gave us free ice and coke.

Had to stop when we found it too easy to get through a bottle every night.
