Feel like I'm seeing a lot more western dudes on laptops in cafes than ever before. Any oldheads notice a difference?

Digital Nomads seem to be everywhere , as well as  new kind of retiree .

Seems to be numerous retired couples in Thailand these days .

I previously hardly ever saw any Westerners , now I see quite a few everyday ,

What I can say, Chaiyaphum city have more foreigners right now than I ever seen before. Based on two trips to the city the last week. Talking about western foreigners typical Pattaya, Cha Am and Hua Hin type. If someone wondering, cargo shorts, and large T-shirts with beer or football logos, and also quite a few who is t ting to dress a bit more decent.

So maybe a new trend?

Digital nomad game is finished thanks to AI. Unless those digital nomads work for themselves which is possible.

Far more younger westerners these days compared to 10/20 years ago.

I'm referring to the PhromPhong & Thonglor areas of Bangkok.

I should bring my laptop next time to fit in with the cool crowd.

Hard to say really In my area of central Bangkok, I've noticed more (mostly couples - look like tourists), but it's the beginning of high season, and given what we've been through since the pandemic, maybe we are just forgetting what it used to be like - maybe this is just returning to normal tourist flows - fewer Chinese, though they are still around - and still lots of Russians in the shopping centers. As for young guys on laptops, and potentially digital nomad types, I don't frequent Starbucks which is probably where most of them are. I travelled in and out of Thailand twice in October within East Asia, and even though that was height of low season (for Thailand) the flights were always full both directions - but very few white faces.

Duamagette and CEBU in the Philippines was the big thing a few years for digital nomads then it changed to Vietnam DA Nang and bow I believe the novelty is Hua Hin

Not with your old baldy  head Gramps

Keep away from the kids

Yes! I've lived here for over 20 years now. Before, when I went into town (Phetchabun), people would point and stare at me because I was a foreigner. Now, I go into Big C or Lotus's, and see dozens of Farangs. When I saw one in the past, I'd stop, introduce myself, and talk with them. Now, we don't even exchange glances.

You constantly call people out for being racists, sexists, or homophobic; much like the boy who cried wolf. Now here you are being an ageist. I thought you were against discrimination of all types.

I have lived in Surin for the last 20 years and have noticed a lot more farangs than usual, even out in the sticks where I live.

No, in fact where I am I hardly see any, most now have gone to see their maker...........😇

Yes definitely.  Sukhumvit area in Bangkok is filled with them.  All the complaining about tourism numbers down must be the Chinese.  Not westerners.

That is because it's easier to make money online than it used to be.  At least it was.  I think some things are getting harder, like vlogging.  Too many people doing it now and youtube seems to be paying them less and less.

Was that not always the case? I've been reading about crims on the lam in Thailand since 2003. It was even easier back then I think.

The hords have returned to Chiang Mai....I'm even seeing groups of cyclist every other day stopping for photo-ops in front of the rice paddy field next to my house and I live in Mae Rim...weird!

Definitely an increase of “farangs” exercising in Lumphini Park each morning.

Hopefully a trend that continues and hopefully we start seeing more young female digital nomads too.
