Hey, I resemble that remark.

I've been working on and using a computer for my own purposes for over 40 years. I’ve always used Windows and have never owned an Apple/Mac, and I never intend to.

You won't know what you're missing until you try.  You'll never go back!

As I said, I never owned an Apple/Mac. When they first came out, they were, IMO, focused on the general public and not professional computer users like me. I don't use my computer for actual computing as much as I used to, so I might be able to use an Apple/Mac now, but I'll never try one. I still look upon them as just playthings and not real computers. And, they cost a lot more than MS Windows PCs and Android phones.

Fair enough.  I'm the opposite, not computer savvy at all, and after years of frustration with Windows, found the intuitive nature of a Macbook Pro a joy.

Also - the type of person who would use a Linux would never get on with a MAC as they require far more control and freedom over their system - whereas when using a MAC you are limited, which I guess is also why its just more reliable (or appears more reliable) - its becasue we can't screw it up so easily !!!

I use Linux exclusively. Get it running right and never bother with it again. Updates don't require you to upgrade the hardware like windows does. And there's equivalent non-windows programs for everything you could possibly need. And all the software is mostly free.

Apple products are for people that don't know much about computers.

Still accurate however.

Perfect then.  👍

Commodore is back in business and they released the real thing - not the emulator. I really do hope their next project is Amiga. I will be buying that and ready to spend $1000

What about the higher cost of Mac updates?  A friend who runs the IT dept at a small company advised me to stay with Windows for this reason.

Higher Cost??  Mac updates are free…….Apple hardware is superior in every way, I have a nine year old 17” Macbook Pro  that we still use as a TV interface…….To each his own - before the naysayers start callin ‘…..drank the koolaid”  I am an MCSE Systems Administrator  ina Windows Domain, I hate Microcrap, but its my Job.   Been a Mac Man since 1997         Peace

MacOS updates are completely free — you never pay for new versions of the operating system.
What can get pricey with a Mac is upgrading the hardware, because most parts (like RAM and storage) can’t be swapped out later. With Windows PCs, upgrading components is usually much easier and cheaper. So the cost difference isn’t in the software updates at all, but in how flexible the hardware is.

That's why I went with a dos box back in the day, before there was windows. Apple hardware/software had to be purchased from Apple at a significantly higher cost because you had to buy from Apple. Migrated to window$ and finally to linux, the best if the bunch. No subscriptions, lots of free software. Does everything you need to do. No forced hardware upgrades when you update the software.
