Immigration police have arrested a Swedish man wanted on an Interpol Red Notice for an arson case in Sweden, detaining him in Pattaya on 24 November 2025. Officers from Immigration Division 3 located the suspect in the resort city after receiving information that he had fled to Thailand and was attempting to evade capture. The man was taken into custody and transferred to Pattaya police to face charges related to overstaying his permission to stay, while extradition procedures begin.

The case originated from an arson attack in Sävsjö, Sweden, for which the suspect, identified only as Mr. N by authorities, was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice. Thai authorities said they acted after receiving intelligence from international partners confirming the suspect had travelled to Thailand. Officers identified him after observing that his appearance matched the description on the arrest warrant.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Songprot Sirisukha, Commander of Immigration Division 3, stated that the suspect admitted his identity during the operation. Investigators also determined that he had overstayed his entry stamp in Thailand. Police said he had allegedly used fake German identification cards and driver’s licences to check into hotels and carry out transactions to avoid detection.

The arrest aligns with a directive issued by the Royal Thai Police to tighten screening procedures and intensify action against transnational crime as tourism recovers. Authorities said the case reflects efforts to prevent Thailand from becoming a refuge for international fugitives. The use of counterfeit European documents was highlighted as part of the suspect’s attempt to remain undetected while living in Pattaya.

Following his arrest, the suspect was handed over to Pattaya police to face charges linked to his overstay. Immigration officials confirmed they are coordinating with the Swedish Embassy regarding extradition processes. No further details were released about the timeline of his possible transfer to Swedish authorities.

Thaitabloid reported that officials indicated that the case forms part of broader enforcement operations focused on foreign nationals wanted for serious offences overseas. Police have not disclosed whether the suspect had engaged in any criminal activity within Thailand beyond immigration violations. Further procedures will follow standard protocols involving cooperation between Thai authorities, international agencies and the Swedish Embasspy.

There seems to be  crime wave from Swedes with German passports .

Some one needs to make  sign, "No Swedes with German passports" and hang it outside a restaurant .

Traditionally, kind of yes. However, that was long time ago and connected to the age of the Vikings. Today, the grim story is that our country is overtaken by the Muslim community.

Nah, I wouldn´t say that. How many Swedish arsonists getting captured in Thailand, have you been reading about?

Anyway, he is a disgrace to Sweden and should be stripped out of his nationality and locked up for life.

meanwhile red bull continues free

Yes, Interpol issued a "red notice," which is an international arrest warrant, for Vorayuth Yoovidhya, the Red Bull heir accused in a fatal 2012 hit-and-run accident. The notice is a request to police around the world to locate and provisionally arrest him pending extradition.
  • Reason for notice: The notice was issued in connection with a 2012 hit-and-run incident in Bangkok that resulted in the death of a police officer.
  • Last major development: Thai police issued a new arrest warrant in August 2020 and Interpol issued a new "red notice" shortly after, following public outrage over dropped charges.
  • Details of the notice: A Red Notice is a request to police forces worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest an individual pending extradition.
  • Status: The notice is still active, and Thai authorities are working to have Yoovidhya returned to Thailand to face charges.

For the simple reason that Yoovidhya has to be arrested by the police force of the country where he stays, not the Thai police, same as the Swede was arrested by the Thai police, not the Swedish one

No way he is Swedish.  He is not wearing his Viking helmut, unless that is a disguise for him to go undercover.

and posting their pics at auto races all over the internet...me thinks that Thai govt is not asking very forcefully or he would have been brought back to thailand years ago...i would guess deputy dog from thailand could go and find him quickly and point him out to the local police...IF IF IF they really wanted to have him face justice.

Captured after he had entered Thailand and after receiving information.. otherwise he would have been yet another over-stayer.

For context, Ani-Frid Lyngstad just celebrated her 79th birthday.

How did he enter Thailand though? Certainly not with a fake German ID card or driving license!

Cue the "eight officers to arrest one man" comments.   You're right, though, there probably will be a queue of members wanting to post that.

But not all over-stayers have Interpol red notices.
