I was interested in this thread that as a Brit living in Thailand that is considered one of the cheapest places for eating out and I had to attended a wedding in New York City, considered one of the most expensive places to eat out. I was dreading it.

Firstly hotel in times square. 330 Dollars per night. Book 10 nights 1060 dollars. Remember this is a hotel that will cost you at least 330 dollars per night in Bangkok for a similar level of service.

Street vendors central park. WOW some of the best street foods in the world. And cheaper than Thai.

What about my go to tavern outside the hotel.

Draft beer 8 dollars for 20 ounce Bottle beer 8 dollar 330 mil.

Food. Yes nowhere can compete with the American dream. But think of this a 300 oz steak cooked to perfection 24 $

Or a Mac and Cheese that was too much for a single person 16$ No wonder mericans are on the plum side

So you seem to be suggesting that New York City is a more affordable place for restaurant food than Pattaya? Taking the piss?

It is very nice, and the customers are mostly Thai. I did not attack you, why do you think it is OK to attack me?

Attack is your own perception. I simply challenged your very strange statement. It turned out that instead of describing International food from International restaurants, you were describing International food from a Thai seafood restaurant.

Do you actually live here?!?

Should people in NYC only eat deli food?

Most people that live in Thailand would never even ask such a silly question.

I do think that short term TOURISTS should eat mostly Thai food in Thailand though.

Why are you trying so hard to come over as weird? Is this how you normally behave or did you have a bad day/week?

Yes, I do live here. No, people in NYC have pizza too. Pattaya is nothing like New York, but the Thai food in NYC sucks.

There is no way that  all of the Thai food in NYC sucks. Expensive? Of course.

Pattaya is more like Miami  than NYC.

Which reminds me. No Cuban restaurants here.

Nice travel blog, are you sure you have been here? Pattaya is nothing like Miami either. The water is cleaner in Florida. Patong would be closer, but no Cubans there either.

What Pattaya has going for it is a lot of variety of different types of food from around the world and all for a fairly economical price.

I've been a few times to Pattaya and will be visiting it next month, just for a few days. Would really like to know a good Chinese !

It's an advertisement for 20 million Baht condos disguised as a travel blog.

If you have 20 million Baht for a condo, maybe there are better places to live.

I've been searching high and low for kosher pork products. Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

Two suggestions:

1. Try any chinese restaurant on Christmas Day. You'll have plenty of company.

2. Look in the halal food section of your favorite food store. You probably won't be able to tell the difference.

To clarify I used to call Pattaya the poor man's Miami.

That still fits as Miami is very expensive, but Pattaya now attracts many more rich people as well (Thai and foreign). So Pattaya can now be the poor or rich Miami of Thailand, up to your bank account.

There are indeed many Russian restaurants here. Not nearly as many as Indian places of course.

I know of a few, I just thought there would be more.

Without a doubt go here if you're seeking REAL Chinese food:
Jiao Zi Guan Central Pattaya - Buzzin Pattaya

www.buzzinpattaya.com/jiao-zi-guan-central-pattaya/

If you're seeking westernized Chinese food, I can't help you.

Personally I'm ordering grab delivery of authentic Chinese food all over the Metro area but most of those places are very inconvenient to tourists and locals without transport as well.

But the place in Central Mall is among the very best here so you get great accessibility, fair prices, and amazing food.

That sums up Thailand in general.  You can spend as much or as little as you like here.

Not aware of any Brazilian or Portuguese food here other than Piri Piri chicken, though there are some Spanish options.

Portuguese would be good, with the vertical skewers with big chunks of meat.

Same with a South African braai.  That would be good here.  Something like the carnivore restaurant in Johannesburg.   The problem would be sourcing game meat though.

Yeah.  Same Same.  I would like to see that option return to Pattaya.
