Bad situation and soon homeless.

Featured Replies

I'm having some trouble and I'm here to ask for help with your opinions. I know there will be negative comments mixed with negative judgments, but I understand. Basically, in three days, I'll be homeless and already overstay my visa. Why? A non-consensual divorce took away what little I had on me. I'm waiting for money to allow me to return home and pay my overstay, but between holidays and weekends, I won't be able to receive anything until January 7th.

So I ask:

1) I need to go to the bank to request a new passbook (I need it for divorce-related matters), as I need to see my transactions from the past few weeks. Could they deny me due to  the overstay? If they want to close my account, they can. Could going to the branch where I opened my account in 2018 help my situation?

2) I don't smoke, drink, or use drugs, so I don't need a lot of money until January: where can I sleep without  problems? Eating is relative. If I find help, fine. Otherwise, drinking water is fine.

I'm in Pattaya.

PS: My marriage failed because of both of us. I have my faults, she has hers. We've been happy for years and have three wonderful children, thankfully all grown up. My adventure in Thailand will end in January, and I'd appreciate any advice you could give me on how to survive 13 days.

This may be sensitive, but what about staying with one of your children?

My oldest daughter is married and lives with the husband and their son in Buriram. The other two kids (17 and 15) are with the mother.

I don't know who Simon is, but I can meet him and introduce myself to him. I don't drink, smoke or do drugs so I won't be a problem. I just need a place to stay for few days. Thank you for any help I can get. Appreciate this community.

You can sleep and eat free at almost any temple.

I was thinking to do that, but now face scan is needed and, same for the BB, need to visit my bank. And previously I never use it as I always used the card or the bank to deposit or get my money.

why would the bank call the police. They do not enforce visa rules.

Yep, they will inform on you.

Not to mention they won't provide any banking services without a photocopy of your valid VISA.

You could always go to a temple if you're down and out, you'll find somewhere to sleep and the monks should give you some food, plus there will be toilets/bathrooms for you to use.

I'd agree with Brit, temples will often take in homeless for a time.

If you cannot get into the bank app, might be able to phone them and have them email statement.

All the best.

OK. Have not had this happen to me. No one checks my visa at my bank.

They are required by law to photocopy your passport data and VISA pages at every counter transaction (since 6-9 months back).

Face scan is only for transactions exceeding 50 k

Ring your bro and fly back asap. Clean floors. Pays well. Then holiday in Lopburi and Pattaya every 3 months.

I'm very sorry to hear about your situation, it is awful being broke.

When I was very young and traveling around the world I had a similar experience though it wasn't due to a scoundrel wife, it was more about bad financial management. I ended up running out of money and I did go to my consulate and they told me at the time that I needed to contact three relatives, and if all three relatives turned me down then they would provide a modest loan and a one-way ticket home. Fortunately my wonderful grandmother came through with the ticket home. My bank at home offered to give me a loan which was rather shocking since I had no credit at the time. I don't even know if I provided the consulate with my banking information.

When I got back I walked into the bank spoke to the manager and asked him why on earth he gave me a loan, and he told me that he had a relative that was in a similar situation some years ago and when he heard about my plight he felt so bad that he offered to personally guarantee the loan to the directors of the bank. The whole thing was beyond my comprehension, needless to say I paid them back every penny, and my heart was full of gratitude.

Granted that was a long time ago and I simply can't imagine something like that happening in this day and age. Fortunately for many of us, we at least have lines of credit, credit cards, assets that can be sold, or other various things we can fall back on in the event of a dire emergency.

Good luck and I hope things work out for you.

Yes, but I tried to download the app. and asked me to go to any branch for authentication. It's something started back in September. Before there was not this face scan.

Yep, if you chat with the monks and tell them about your "woman troubles" they'll probably invite you to join them for a week or two.

I already asked her and she said cannot. She was the first I asked. I even understand, as their son is not in good health and need oxygen and it is not cheap. But thanks for the suggestion.

No social media where you can start a go fund me page and have some friends and friends of friends to chip in a bit for you ?
