Where?

Do you mean a cam version or a goody copy?

TIA

Apologies it's a CAM version, I usually check the quality even if the label says HD but for some reason, I failed miserably on this one.

Watched the F1 motor racing movie "Rush" again and have never gotten tired of it as there are some great scenes in it.......it was available on BBC iPlayer.

For those who may be interested in ancient history/the past, I have just watched a very entertaining and informative 58 minutes on BBC iPlayer, of the history between the Neanderthals and homo-sapiens, called "Last humans standing" and the surprise is that the humans they were referring to were actually Neanderthals who populated Europe and beyond, way before homo-sapiens arrived.

I thought it was great and if anyone else is interested I would suggest they take a look as it is intriguing to say the least.

Have a few new releases just available on Yify (YTS)

The Housemaid

The Dutchman

The Plague

We Bury The Dead

Hamnet

I watched first three episodes -- great family series.

I couldn't help myself, so I watched one of my favourite movies again, "The Big Short" and I still enjoyed it immensely.

I have a particular interest in it because I was Chief Manager of Investments at a major New Zealand bank and I had built a suite of managed funds from $100,000 to just under $2 billion before I retired in 2005.

Although the crash happened in 2007/8 I had already retired by then, and I recall that in 2003 my bank and others in NZ were approached by a major investment bank in the USA (whose name I have forgotten) about including some CDOs in our managed funds and we were invited to a presentation at a major hotel in Auckland to hear the presentation regarding CDO's which was very slick indeed, and trying to sell us on the fact that we should include them in our managed fund products because they would produce good and steady returns.

I sat through the presentation with another investment manager, who was a bit of a whizzkid on investing and in things financial and after the presentation I asked him some pointed questions about how these functioned because the presentation didn't make it very clear, and it was quite obvious to me that the financial stability behind them was "suspect".

His response was, "I really don't know as it's far too complicated" and on that note I decided against including them in our portfolio of managed funds and I'm so glad that I made that decision because we had none of these CDO's on our books when the crash happened and although I had retired when it did happen, I was so happy that I made the right decision.

Have just watched a movie called, "Out of the Furnace" and it starred Woody Harrelson, as you've never seen him before, along with Christian Bale, Forest Whitaker and Zoe Saldana and it was an altogether different movie, different but interesting and good IMO.

Casey Affleck also starred and although I don't usually like his acting, he was very good in this movie, which focused on him being a war veteran trying to find his way back in the USA and getting caught up in a hillbilly fight "ruse/scheme".

Starfleet academy just keeps getting better and better. So glad I stuck wifh the show. It has captured the true spirit of what Gene started.

Bravo 10/10 show. I highly recommend it.

Sarcasm detector activated. IMDb has it at 4.?

The Plague.

Very artfully done but one of the most depressing movies I've ever seen.

You've been warned

As adults, it’s tempting to look back on our younger years with a sense of wistful nostalgia. No responsibilities, no aches and pains, a full life and future ahead of us, nothing but friends and play and freedom. But for those of us who too easily forget that adolescence is, to be honest, a bitch, look no further than Charlie Polinger’s debut “The Plague,” a harrowing psychological thriller that transplants the tyranny of puberty to the anxieties of modern boyhood. It’s set in 2003, with the clothes and music and “Eighth Grade”-level early aughts awkwardness to match. Still, its twisting of bullying culture and the competitiveness of young boys portends all of the violent masculinities on display even today.

Not really the same, Fury is a very good movie with a story, Der Tiger is OK but IMO mediocre.

Another 'very good' tank movie that is worth a watch is T34

Quite a weird tank movie is 2012 White Tiger Worth a watch if you are into Panzers and can find it

Wiki says of T34

Another one for the tank tank: The Beast of War (1988)

Surprisingly good performance by a US television actor as a Russian tank commander out of his league in Afghanistan.

For a bit of levity on this tank stuff, try Kelly's Heroes (1970) with Clint Eastwood, and Donald Southerland as a WWII pre-hippie. And Don Rickles.

More sarcasm? I'm waiting for the whole season of 6 before I start. Are they all 30 minute episodes?

  • The best thing I have watched this year. Great characters/script/lots of plot twists to keep you guessing. Persons of No Interest to the KGB.

Probably a good follow-up to The Plague.

Four part UK tv series of Lord of the Flies has dropped.

You know the story, or do you really?

Read it when I was 12, it's for children/teens, not adults.

The movies were good. The 1963 version a bit better than the 1990 one. Haven't seen the series yet. I see it's rated higher, so I'll look out for it.

Yeah I get your point, which I why I said we all know the story but maybe this expanded four part tv version will shed further light and depth on the familiar story. It is certainly a very dark story for a children's book. Which is a way of saying that I'm sure the intended audience for this series is definitely not only children.
