Seems it's already been completed.

At its meeting on February 10, 2026, the Cabinet approved a progress report on Thailand’s visa reform initiative launched in 2024 to support tourism and stimulate the national economy. While most of the measures are already in effect, authorities confirmed their consolidation and signaled several potential adjustments, including a possible revision of the 60-day visa exemption in response to documented cases of abuse.

....

The proposal, submitted by Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and reviewed by the Cabinet on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, does not represent a sudden overhaul of the country’s immigration policy. Rather, it marks a follow-up step and formal political validation of measures that have been gradually implemented over nearly two years.

....

Beyond easing entry requirements, reforms in recent months have focused on simplifying the system.

As of August 31, 2025, the previous 17 non-immigrant visa codes were consolidated into seven main categories to improve clarity and administrative efficiency.

Do they mean to say that the new Cabinet has already been approved?

Why would a cabinet need anyone’s approval?

Many criminals who have never been caught have no criminal record. Paedos thrive on this.

That is true. But more criminals have long rap sheets back home and never be allowed in Thailand in the first place.

Nine people laughed at it and in the forum software's view that makes it popular, but you're correct and it was essentially nonsense.

Vietnam is cheaper, has great food, and attractive women but no retirement visa. That is a huge but with an extra t.

Vietnam is a great country, I have visited it a few times and greatly enjoyed my time there. However one aspect where Thailand always appealed to me, was the superior quality of Thailand medical care and hospitals.

Thailand's hospitals generally offer higher medical quality and expertise compared to Vietnam's, particularly in international accreditations, equipment, and staff competency, although I concede that Vietnam's top facilities are rapidly improving. From what I recall having read, user surveys and rankings consistently rate Thailand superior overall in the medical field. Both countries have modern private hospitals suitable for medical tourism, but Thailand leads as a regional hub.

Having worked upcountry Vietnam for several years, I maintain that you wouldn't want to live outside the main cities of Vietnam as upcountry Vietnam is VERY basic and underdeveloped (especially when compared to upcountry Thailand). Where I worked, any medical cases were driven 4hrs to HCMC hospital as local hospitals in southern Vietnam weren't considered decent enough. For emergency cases we would use a helicopter service to HCMC.

I only visited Danang (2024), for about five weeks, but I really liked it. The food quality and flavor was good and tasty and coffee shops were varied and fun to hang out at, so many of them and the quality is fantastic.

I noticed that there are far fewer chain or franchise shops and restaurants than I've noticed in any other country, which made it more of an adventure. Pet peeve was the rampant scooter riding on the sidewalks - I always felt the need to look over my shoulder.

Fortunately, never needed any medical care so can't speak to that. For me, Thailand is still tops in the things I value day to day like food and medical and interaction with people. 👍
