Ah the words of a true "pipe and slippers man" So when did your "little fella" stop working?

  • What gives me pleasure, is to wake up every morning after a good sleep, and have no pain! That is a good start on a new day! Everything else is bonus, and my biggest bonus in life is my wife, and eve

Yeah, it is still a normal part of life. I just wanted to talk about other forms of pleasure for a change. No pipe and slippers yet. 😉

All David Attenborough BBC series documentaries are great. About animals, nature, the planet and the environment. The knowledge gained is endless and the imagery is stunning. It takes me places and shows me elements of the natural world I would never see otherwise. One could go through an entire lifetime without ever knowing that we share the planet with such amazing creatures if it weren't for these documentaries. I have been watching these series documentaries for at least 15 years already and the photography just keeps getting better and better as technology improves:

Planet Earth III

Frozen Planet II

BBC Asia (2024)

Start with those. Each has at least 6-8 episodes. Afterwards, tell me what you learned.

One major forthcoming series I am awaiting is "Kingdom", a six-part nature documentary narrated by him. It was produced by BBC Studios Natural History Unit and filmed over several years following four animal families in Zambia. Should be available later this year.

There are many things that do, but I never thought of this or any other forum as one of these 🙃

I live in Pattaya what else do I need to give me a pleasure?

Off AN ... I'm an open book, y'all should know by now. Thankfully for me, it's a long list of enjoyable things.

What actually gives you pleasure everyday?

Drinking a beer out the front of a 7-Eleven, meeting a young sexy chick, then going back to my condo for afternoon/evening enjoyment.

To all the grumpy old Keyboard warriors, get that up ya 😚

This Samsung washing machine is one of the very few purchases I have made in Thailand which actually DOES provide pleasure, and not pain.

Have you tried placing your genitals on the lid when it hits the spin cycle ?

Drinking beers in the evening in a go-go bar while watching the girls dancing almost naked. Usually, I offer a drink to the sexiest girl to have the pleasure of being able to caress her buttocks while we toast. If everything looks good, I pay the bar fine . . .

Once I was watching one of those old Samurai movies, maybe it was Kurosawa.

One of the characters was dying, can't remember if from battle or sickness.

The subtitle read "But, I have not had my fill of liquor and dancing girls"

Thanks, I've been posting my antics for years, how I enjoy my life. It's usually, only the old Grumpy guys, the haters who comment, giving me negative replies.

One of my biggest heros is David if you can call him that, and today, watching all his documentaries makes me a little sad when I think about what humans are doing to this fantastic planet.

I get the same pleasure from watching the girls with rings in their nose on 5th Avenue, NYC.

Watching beasts of burden, or animals which are not free....

Gives me great pleasure....NOT....

But, hearing Mick sing about these beasts of burden....yes...

Supreme PLEASURE, for sure.

Anytime I am feeling blue....

I turn on to Mick.

Nobody can't get no pleasure from Jagger.

I LOVE Mick...

And....

So should you...

IF you knew what was good for you.

Which you probably do NOT....

Talking about grumpy old men who gives a thumbs down on such a humeriou and encouraging post as this.

Drinking 7/11 beers, street and go go meat, what a life it must be!

What gives pleasure depends very much on the mood of the day. One day you can enjoy the heat and another day, rant on it. One day you can be all hard up in visiting the fine ladies in their parlours and the next day you may consider never to step foot anymore in a soapy. It's human.

What kind of pleasure comes from spending large chunks of your day trying to irritate people you will never meet?

For me, it's seriously just rehearsing to be a grumpy old man...annoyed

A great Single Malt , like Highland Park 18, and a piece of dark chocolate.

Many times observed those who plays pool, not so much dart here in Thailand, but they seems to get along well in social groups, playing pool, watching football/rugby and just chit chat drinking some beers at their local bar. I think more english/scottish/irish and australian than any else? They got this social genes I do not think scandis have? I wish it was that simple, but it is something I value is having a few good trusted friends, and also having space and time for myself. I think that is necessary when you live in Isaan, especially if you do not live in the middle of the village with everything that comes with. Still seems we are creating our own village here now, with a new house or bungalow creeping closer and closer, and the ampur making concrete roads out in the wilderness as well.

I keep money for every land sale that would happen close by :D

Seeing my daughter repeat words I've taught her in English, and saying words I never heard from her before. Seeing how she treats others and animals, also taught by me.

Listening to music while driving and holding hands with my girlfriend, sharing music she would likely have never heard before being a Thai, and having her enjoy it. (Mark Knopfler, Dire Straits, John Illsley, Neal Casal, Moody Blues, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Journey, Bad Company, Gordon Lightfoot and Gerry Rafferty some of her favorites).

Having the neighborhood dogs running to greet me when I walk up the dirt road. Going back home to visit my children and their families.

Shooting a big buck and catching a big Bass or Pickerel.

Eating certain Thai foods my girlfriend knows I like, and going out to eat western with her.

Certain foods, like good NYC/New Jersey style pizza, lasagne, cheeseburgers, Texas BBQ, Philly Cheesesteaks, a good Steak, Broiled Swordfish, Sushi, a good deli sandwich, Cannolis.

A good cup or iced coffee.

Watching a good new or old classic movie.

Watching the sunset at any beach. Eating seafood on the water.

Seeing the San Antonio lights landing there to visit, and eventually for the last time when we move back.

All sounds wonderful, and I can really relate to the simple joy of playing my favourite old music to the Missus on road trips and seeing what she likes.

She's now a fan of Fleetwood Mac, Stereophonics, Tracy Chapman, Sade, Guns n Roses, Linkin Park, but she couldn't get into Floyd, Led Zeppelin or Jethro Tull. I also like some of the Thai R&B she plays, but Thai rock or rap is the worst!
