I just woke up on this beautiful day in Pattaya , I went to bed early last night slept like a baby at up at 4am

It's still dark outside and I unfortunately can hear motorbikes roaring past

,I will move from here tommrrw to a quieter location and have wrote a few emails to Airbnb CEO , who were kind enough to assist me with a quieter Airbnb in another location and will even pay for my Grab there to transport me , I'm so happy now

I want to be where I was last year up near universal gym near the mosque up near that highway so I can hear the beautiful call to morning prayer

But I just wanted to say despite the roaring sounds of traffic going past what a beautiful day it is in Pattaya and for those party poopers who said a few years ago that Pattaya was dying , you are very wrong

I guess this time 4am , people are coming home from work unlike Australia where they will be going to work ,that's why it's noisy

Pattaya is getting busier and more people coming in , the only downside which I'm investigating is the pedestrian access which I'm researching

Last year I had to write complaints about the graffiti on Thappraya road that I saw on the roller shutters, .

I did meet with a clerk from the Pattaya city council about it .. finally,

And I say "finally " because despite sending them pictures of the graffiti etc they still didn't get back to me until I contacted my local Member of Parliament in Australia who must of contacted them because they agreed to meet me ..finally..although they kept me in the waiting room over an hour but were great when I seen the engineering department supervisor

I believe it was cleaned about a week later , although I'm told it's back !

Anyway thankyou to the Airbnb CEO who approved my transport costs to another Airbnb and even arranged had a special person on staff to help me find a new quieter Airbnb with sunlight ,he personally wrote to me to say I'm considered a "special" customer

I just wanted to say I'm having a beautiful day waking up in Pattaya, yes it's still dark ,but at 530am I will go for a swim

Im just having my coffee , and writing in my daily diary all the items I purchased from 711 ,I like to itemise this so I know how many toothpaste etc I bought over this holiday period

Pattaya is not dying off ,it's getting busier , I predict apartment will skyrocket here soon

Even build a casino

You would be the “life of a party”. Do you get many invitations?

With the many rich colourful threads that go to making up Pattaya it really is a most wondrously beautiful city... It is the most unique city on the planet for all the reasons that you and I both know.

I wake up every morning to swells of birds singing. Sun rising over the. Mountain. Bells ringing in the distance.

I suggest to move

In Malaysia I lived near a mosque (pretty difficult not to), you get a nice loud wake up call every morning.

When I worked in Libya ( Wafa Field) 700kms from Tripoli in the desert they managed the call to prayers every day. Rude wake up I must say. Terrible assignment but salary was ok....

You are lucky to be alive , you really should of stayed there in that job without retiring

Of course you did! Airbnb CEO, is on standby for all small things and personal matters. We all know that. This is starting to be really serious.

Another glorious day waking up in Pattaya , coffee on my sunlit balcony to start

I saw a quote yesterday that has stuck with me "with age comes wisdom"

Now finding a great cafe / coffee shop is difficult

I do enjoy going to cafes and found the best up at the Hilton recommended to me by a member here , although I can't recall the price of my cappuccino previously ( I would have to go through my 2025 diary)

The Royal Cliff cafe although a great sea view was not to my liking

May I ask Pattaya expats here ( if there are any ) what your favourite cafe is ?

I would love to go back to try the "doggy cafe " again I think , patting the cute dogs .

There is a few cafes near tukcom ,Gafae is one which someone recommended to me for great coffee

I really don't like those generic cafes like S& P and Starbucks and what's the one at Tukcom ? Black canyon ?

Oh please, I still work so I'm able to afford the Hilton cafe ,don't be jealous !!

Cafe De Anus is tasty. Excellent Mocha.

Here in my village, the PA system starts at 6am, sometimes in opposition to the Monks at the temple, or other music going on for wedding or birthday or being a Monk or whatever else they want to celebrate like daughter's first period. It can last for up to two hours. Any worse than the Mosque........there isn't one here so I do not know.

That's gold celebrating the daughters first period.

I'm sure in the west the daughter would be slightly embarrassed.

Why the celebration, I assume now she can get married and have babies.

Newborns, little babies are the most beautiful thing in life.

I'm a lucky father of 6, I've seen a few come into the world

So you took a job in a mostly Muslim nation and thought it was rude they did their muslim stuff ?

Amazing.

In Indonesia had the misfortune to stay in a hotel central to 3 mosques competing similataneously !

Each one had the amplified system wound out to full distortion !

Sorry, but that bit was tongue in cheek.

Way too much info. Do you actually think people care about everything you shared?

confirming what we already knew I don't think it was meant as a compliment

Havent been in pattaya for 13 years. No plan to visit again the next decade.Worst place ever i been to.

Depends where you go

I paid 400 baht yesterday for a horrendous one

I thought I would try one of the back street massage places up near sukmihevet road

Should of known not to disturb them when they are eating outside ,

an elderly woman was doing my oil massage ,she proceeded to shout to the staff out the front in a conversation that went on for about 15 minutes before I told her I need my headphones .

.I mean that's not cultural thats just ignorance

She had all that time to have a conversation with them but chooses to do it when she has a customer?

And then had the cheek to ask if I wanted to extend it by 30 minutes !

400 baht wasted

I will have to conduct an interview) walk around the shop before I go in , to see what it's like .

She needed to do something to take her mind off the visual horror of you undressed, oily, and engorged. 🫣🤢🤮

What's wrong with you? Pattaya and you expect peaceful surrounding?!

Hmm, doesn't seem to have stopped the Muslims coming to Pattaya and boozing and bonking.... At least it's not boys and goats now.....

According to recent posts of you, you live in Cambodia. Occasionally returning to Myanmar, teaching impoversished children, distributing your little income to impoversished people in Myanmar. While suffering from serious "lung problems". Recommendable, indeed.

But now reporting from Pattaya, delivering "up to date news" from "Sin City".

Sometimes people have found reason to re-write their "life story".

Cheers.

Didn't Simon recently not moved back "permanently" to the UK>?

No. UK too expensive. Returned back. This time to Cambodia as a permanent residence. Siam Reap. Has found Pattaya more "exiting" than Siam Reap. Obviously. Judging by his recent posts here.

Fine. Simon may eventually respond as long as he is in Pattaya. Harder if he stays in Myanmar, supporting the "downthrodden" in Myanmar with his meager income without access to internet.

Hmmm. A "lost soul" within a wild ocean called "live". Taking pride in 3 failed marriages is a strong indicator of "something is wrong with the guy". I venture to say that his 3 ex.wifes would agree.
