Monthly Rental Secure Storage Lockers To Hold 2 Xlarge Suit Cases

I am retiring in '08. Plan on landing Bkk early spring.

I intend on being in SE Asia for a long period & have contacted the Thai Consulate regarding the visa options.

I intend on bringing more stuff than can be reasonably packed around Thailand prior to finding & settling down in my 'long term' home.

My intention is to travel from Bkk "to Hua Hin to Pei to Phuket to Korat to Chiang Mai .. to Bali .." or where ever.

Travel not to arrive but to simply travel for the sake of travel

roam, enjoy .. & evaluate the assorted potential home base locals for recreation & housing & all the other stuff that makes life a good life.

Are there commercial storage businesses in Bkk.. monthly storage spaces?

I do not intend to settle in Bkk .. to much of so much for me, I live in & enjoy smaller cities / towns.

A place where large suit cases could be left in locked lockers

.. 1m x 1m x 1m "secure" storage locker? .. camera, computer, IPod & minimal cloths will travel with me

I have considered just getting a low end Bkk apartment w/ ac & a bed.. leave it vacant with my stuff while truckin' about ,, "all" Thai transportation goes through Bkk so I will always be leaving or returning to Bkk

vagabond w/ 'back pack or "carry on" sized case W/ brief case for all the electronic gadgets..

thanks in advance

Congrats on retirement!!

This has been discussed before, so check out the thread here for more info, costs, and two Bangkok companies that handle storage:

those places are way more than I need.

I guess a low cost apartment is the answer.

I was picturing a bus station like locker for short term suit case storage.

Thanks .. + would give me the opportunity to know KS Road

near Huay lapung (train station spell?) is a big plus for those roaming for smiles.

I guess a hotel for a few days to find available options .. 'bout decided to find a low end monthly apartment for a month or 2 ..

10 years ago I had a nice room on Ekkami (sp)at klong san saep / soi 23 @ 400 Thb q day.. seems the monthly rates were under 8k .. + a 7-11 .. & lots of Bgs living on that quite Soi

i really really do not want to spend a lot of time in Bangers .. seems all I do is yield to my vices.

if I had a locker I could easily avoid Bkk ..

with a paid for room I am afraid I'd get stuck in bangers (again!)

to me, Bkk is like ice cream or pizza in the fridge ..

i best control that (empty calories as opposed to empty women) personal weakness by not having ice cream or pizza around.. :o
