My mothers name was Catherina (Kitty was somehow the short version), my grandmothers is Jenny.

Our daughter has both and a Thai name. 'Jennifer PhetPailin Catherina'. (Short version Jenny or Jen)

Caherina was chosen because of my mother, Jennifer because we really liked it and coincidental it was the longer version of my grandmothers name. My grandmother is really proud of those names.

We did the same for our son. 'Alec Phetnamnung Andreas'.

Andreas being the name of my uncle (mothers side) who was like a second father to me.

Somehow both my uncle as my grandmother are very very happy with the choices, and that gave us pleasure too.

Maybe something to consider. Be careful though that they are not too long. The Thai administration could only accept 25 thai characters for the first names. Jennifers names was a very tight fit and not a completely correct translation.

thai language doesnt have the letter "J"

so she will always end up being called 'Y" something or other

not always entertaining!

trust me...I know!
