It has got to be one of the funnist around at present and fast developing cult status.

As CarlBkk is on about 460 posts he will become eligable for Bedlam soon - He will deserve a very warm welcome on arrival.

Your Thoughts Please ?

A bunch of non-adult grownups making the life of a miserable man even more miserable, and even mods participating, I'm sorry, I can't see anything funny, but it's very educating as to the mental state of a lot of TV members. (probably including me :o )

cheers

I'm torn.

If the guy does have mental problems he needs help not ridicule, if he is just a pompous oik, then he is about to get the best treatment for him.

Judging by the stats Thaddeus, the Thai Visa Jury have decided it's the latter.

The thread has been open 3 days, gone to 8 pages, had 193 replies and 5,900 viewings.

Possibly a record for a non-disaster type thread ?

Every man & his dog will be there tomorrow - which means it's probably the best publicity stunt ever pulled by a coffee shop in BKK.

Hmmmm :o now there's an interesting take on the proceedings. I bet there's a few businesses wish they'd thought of that one first.

As for the show I'm like Thaddeus, torn between the two possibilities. We are all a little mad but for some their madness lies outside the perceived norm. Should we torment those that don't fit our perception of normality? However if he is genuinely a pompous tw@t he deserves a slap (figuratively speaking).

My other view of it is that it is happening in Bangkok with the gleeful participation of all the Bangkokites and has remained remarkably civilised. I wonder if the thread would have followed the same lines if it had been about a gentleman in a coffee shop in Pattaya (or a beer bar)? :D

Find it all a bit grim to be honest. It was a decent story to begin with. Bit of a "check this guy out - funny har har" - but the way people have latched onto it is sad. Surely there's more to living in this city than going out your way to pile into a cafe to observe some outcast?

I mean, an outcast, in Bangkok? Surely not?

Will you be checking out the results ? ..........

(Next week there will probably be a poll Is GOM a nob or not ? ....... :o )

I haven't read the whole topic, find it way over the top considering that we have only the word of the OP about this guy.

Its the new TV Soap opera, and gives me something entertaining to read whilst im stuck in the office on a gray Friday morning...

Sadly enough, I have read through the entire thread. It's almost as interesting reading the "objecting" posts, as the "plotters" posts.

If GOM is as bad as originally reported, it would be good for him for someone to put him in his place. He sounds like a disgruntled guy that is used to getting his own way by being an arrogant jerk. As we (most of us) know, that kind of attitude usually won't get you far in LoS. In other places, you'd only do that once (and if you were lucky you'd live to tell about it).

In the mean time, it does liven up the forum for some, and has given a few members the excuse to get out and meet some other members (and has apparently given the staff of that cafe a bit of a break as well). So it's not all bad !

Well done kayo. Too much time on your hands!

I just read the first couple of pages and now just get the latest updates. It's a bit like watching molasses flowing down a 1% slope on a cold day. Initial excitement when it was first poured followed by a daily slow but steady progression to.......................?

where?

I fell asleep over the OP already....is it worth checking in at say....post #45?

Hi guys, didn't actually expect replies to this little episode of mine to break the page barrier, but wonders never cease.

It's a true, non-exaggerated, ongoing story...that might have something to do with it. Out of 500 replies opposers get worried that it's mob action, but hardly anyone turns up at all...some days none. So far out of all TV members reading it and having comments, the GOM happily gets his place oblivious to the fact that there MAY be people who want to test his reaction.

It does seem to be the TV soap of the moment though I must admit. Harmless family fun :o
