Thai Driver's License 1 Year -> 5 Year

Featured Replies

I have seen many references to the fact that if you want to get a 5-year license, you must first have a 1-year, and the 1-year must be expired.

Does anyone know of a limitation on how long the 1-year can be expired before it will not be considered as the "basis" for the 5-year?

Should not expire at all. Have to apply at the last day before expire.

Wrong.

You can't ask for the 5 years license as long as your 1 year is valid.

So you do have to wait for it to expire.

From what I read on the Internet you can ask for the 5 year licence

from LastDay+1 day to LastDay + 1 year

I have just swapped my 1 year for a 5 year, 1 year ran out in March this year, 5 year issued in October.

If you apply before the 1 year has run out they try to give you another 1 year.. I have no idea if the second 1 year also has to expire ?!?!

Thanks for the replies...my 1-year has been expired for about 8 months, so I should be good to go.
