December 6, 200817 yr I have seen many references to the fact that if you want to get a 5-year license, you must first have a 1-year, and the 1-year must be expired. Does anyone know of a limitation on how long the 1-year can be expired before it will not be considered as the "basis" for the 5-year?

Should not expire at all. Have to apply at the last day before expire.
December 6, 200817 yr Should not expire at all. Have to apply at the last day before expire.Wrong.You can't ask for the 5 years license as long as your 1 year is valid. So you do have to wait for it to expire. From what I read on the Internet you can ask for the 5 year licence from LastDay+1 day to LastDay + 1 year
December 6, 200817 yr Yup ^^^ I think it's a year. Mine was 8 months out, exchanged for a 5 year without a blink "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
December 6, 200817 yr I have just swapped my 1 year for a 5 year, 1 year ran out in March this year, 5 year issued in October. Geordie

I have no idea if the second 1 year also has to expire ?!?!
December 6, 200817 yr Author Thanks for the replies...my 1-year has been expired for about 8 months, so I should be good to go.
